wedding shoes

Little Madam, 24 June, 2010 at 08:55 Posted on Planning 0 29

I was just wondering - are people tending to wear heels or pumps for their wedding day?

I am a fan of heels - I wear around 3in heels everyday as I am only 5'' but I am not sure about skyscraper heels (which is what I really want) all day - my going out shoes are about 4.5'' which is what I would be looking for and they hurt on a night out so now i'm wondering what to do for the best.

I wanted to get heels for the service them have flats for the evening but there are obvious concequences on the dress lenght...

Anyone solved this yet?

Why can't you have more than one pair? I'm having a pair of heels for the ceremony, photos and wedding breakfast, but at some point I'll change into a pair of pumps simply for the comfort factor. But I am going for 3" dancing shoes, not ankle-breaking stilettoes.

And what's the point in having gorgeous shoes if they're covered by a floor length dress and no-one can see them? Go for an ankle length dress so people will see your shoes.

I'm wearing kitten heels as that's what I find most comfortable and OH is only about 3-4 inches taller than me. Any excuse for a flash ?

Judeclarke - thats my other halfs opinion too but shoes are kinda my "thing" - it's like underwear - no one except me knows they are there but they make me feel awesome! I guess I am a funny woman!

I am just worried if I change from 3 or 4 inch heels to flats my dress will become too long and not flow correctly as it is just floor skimming.

SamSam - very pretty! Are you wearing a shorter dress to show them off?

I wanted the higher version of these, they are more gold, but I didn't find them very comfortable when I tried them on ☹️ it's a shame yours don't come in gold...

I'm wearing heels for the wedding. I wasn't going to but I fell in love with them. Trying to train myself how to walk in them as I always ALWAYS wear flats. At the moment me walking in heels looks like I have a problem so I'm hoping I can glide smoothly in my lovely shoes on the day... I'd say wear what is going to be comfortable (wish I took my own flipping advice) and remember you're wearing them ALL day.

Any excuse for a flash (!) - here are mine in a different colour: (mine are in white with a black bow but they are still being made)

Could you go for a higherheel, with a platform type sole? I think this is what I'll be doing as I hardly ever wear high heels so don't want my feet to hurt all day either. I did have a lovely red pair, but they made me taller than my OH so I had to sell them on Smiley sad

Aww wow spangles they are awesome shoes! They would put a real big smile on my face! Smiley smile

My problem is also that my bridemaids are a good 4 or 5 inches taller and the groom nearly a foot taller without heels! :o

Mrs Senddon2b - I think that might be the best solution yet - found some fab ones in my fave shoe store and so I am going to try them on at the weekend to make sure I can walk - not sure how to put a pic up on here but they are white with a crystal platform and crystal heel, slingback peeptoes - I love them so much!

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in, so you could get slightly lower heels which are more comfy? I'm wearing flats as I'm already 3 inches taller than my OH to begin with, so didn't want to add to that with a heel!

    Spangles, they are AMAZING!!!

im normally a heels girl too but my H2B is actually 2 inches shorter than me and i dont want to be towering over him during the ceremony!

i was thinking of getting some pretty pump to solve the height issue and also the comfort issue! my friend got married a few weeks ago and she wore some really pretty decorattive flat sandals from Monsoon which i also thought was a brilliant idea!

I tried the gold ones too and didn't find them very comfortable either ☹️ so I went for these which actually go really well with my dress as it's a pale ivory.

kayl - no, not having a shorter dress. I'll probably just lift up the skirt to show people!

Aww i love those bows - they match perfectly with a party dress I just bought! Smiley smile

I finally decided on platform heels, found them online with £40 off, went to the store to try them on... I was thinking that i had found the ones.. they had ones to fit my tiny size 3 feet, then fitted lovely, I could walk and they were comfy despite the huge heel.. I was holding them in my hand ready to buy them when.. I realised.. They were ivory and I want my dress to be pure white - so I called mom, who called my auntie and we decided... It wouldn't work so I had to leave them!

MrsKeating2B - On the white shoe front - thats what I found last night - they do some in BHS, the strap sandles type but they are not really me.. I scoured Debenhams including the sell off faith range they still have in, Dune, Office and Coast but found nothing yet although my other half said that we spend so much time in shoe shops I am sure to find the right ones without a lot of extra searching! haha.

I know it seems trivial to some people but am just worried becasue everyone knows I love my shoes - I have some really random ones, from huge heeled work shoes which everyone adores and ask how I walk in, velvet/silk red ones, to randon navy and baby blue stop platform t-bones so I know people will ask to see my shoes becasue they comment on them so much everyday.

    What am I like! haha

Snuggles they are being made for me by a designer in Milton Keynes. They aren't cheap but they are less expensive than Emmys/ Louboutins!

I am wearing heels, with a platform so not so bad! I wanted crystal studded louboutins but the budget wouldn't stretch to £1,200 so I made my own!!!

    Flats for me!

Couple of reason. In my job im used to running around in flats all day, going out in heels for a nightout kills me!

Also i dont want to be taller than o/h/

I think i am going to go for these

    http://www.marksandspencer.com/Diamant%C3%A9-Cluster-Round-Toe-Pumps/dp/B0038FS0VA?ie=UTF8&categoryNodeID=42967030&ref=sr_1_2&node=171926031&page=&sr=1-2&qid=1277506488&_encoding=UTF8&mnSBrand=core&rh=?_encoding=UTF8&categoryNodeID=42967030&node=171926031&mnSBrand=core&ref=sr_1_2&qid=1277506488&sr=1-2&rh=&page

Havent really seen any other nice flat sparkly shoes.
