West End Shows!

Flowmojo, 27 April, 2012 at 09:25 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 36

This has probably been done before but me and Mr F were discussing this last night, hes never been but i imagine would love it, i toyed with the idea of getting tickets for his birthday in NOvember but to be honest, id rather we plan a trip together after the wedding and he picks exactly what hed like to see as knowing me, id make his first theatre experience rubbish by picking something ID like to see! So my fellow hitchers, i ask you this...

What have you seen?

What would you like to see?

What has been your favourite show?

I have seen Starlight Express, Blood Brothers and Lion King I think, id LOVE to see Dirty Dancing and Wicked.

Lion King as DEFO my fav, it was truely amazing how they recreated all the animals!!!!!!!!❤️

In London (over the years) - Starlight Express, Oliver, Buddy, Mary Poppins, Sound of Music, Lion King (twice!)

    In New York - Wicked

    In Sydney - Jersey Boys

I would watch any and every musical, but I'd really love to see Les Mis. Wicked was my absolute fave.

Seen: Blood Brothers, Wicked, Chicago, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Grease, Joseph (x 3) , Evita, Dirty Dancing, Buddy Holly, Sound of Music.

Want to see: Lion King, Jersey Boys

Best: Blood Brothers, Joseph. Dirty Dancing was also great, but girly!

Wost by far: Wicked - but I know I'm about the only one who thinks it's mince.

I think Chicago would be good for a boy's first theatre trip, music and dancing is good, it has girls in suspenders and gangsters/guns etc!

    I have seen:

    The Lion King

    Dirty Dancing

    Beauty and the Beast

    Never Forget

    The Wedding Singer

    High School Musical and HSM2

    I want to see:

    Jersey Boys

    We Will Rock You

    Grease

    Joseph

The Spice Girls Musical once it's finished

I think the Lion King and Dirty Dancing were the best - DD had extra scenes which made the storyline make more sense.

I've seen: Cats, Dirty Dancing, Joseph, Lord of the Rings, Thriller, Legally Blonde (x2), Grease, Mamma Mia, and in New York we saw Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark

Want to see: Rock of Ages, Lion King, Starlight Express, Wicked, We Will Rock You, Ghost - to be honest though I'll go see any, I love going to the theatre!

My favourite was definitely Legally Blonde, beforehand I couldn't imagine how on earth a film like that could be turned into a musical and work, but it really does and the songs are so catchy.

What have you seen? Cats, Sister Act, Wicked, Mamma Mia, Lion King, Cirque du Soleil (3 times - not really a musical but it is fantastic!)

What would you like to see? Dirty Dancing, LOTR, Grease, We Will Rock You,

What has been your favourite show? Cats was fantastic and Lion King. Cirque du Soleil is out of this world.

Worst: Wicked - It was ok but I don't get the hype...

What have you seen? Gosh, loads of musicals (not all in the West End, some of them were on tour). Off the top of my head, Cats (4 times), Les Miserables (twice), Phantom, Miss Saigon, Grease, West Side Story, Blood Brothers, Wicked, Chicago, Avenue Q, Guys and Dolls, Billy Elliot, Jesus Christ Superstar, Spring Awakening. Non-musicals - Woman in Black, Yes Prime Minister.

What would you like to see? Matilda is top of my list - it's meant to be awesome. Also, Mary Poppins, Sound of Music, Lion King and Singin' in the Rain.

What has been your favourite show? Les Mis is still my absolute favourite, though OH hates it. It is LONG, and not as happy-clappy as most other musicals, but I think it's amazing and the music is awesome. Miss Saigon was also fantastic and Blood Brothers too, but in a very different way. I was disappointed by Wicked after all the hype.

I've come across this just as i've literally booked tickets next month for Woman in Black (up to 50% off!!)

Seen: Blood Brothers, Dirty Dancing, Wicked, Joseph, Lion King, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest & Phantom of The Opera, Rock Horror Show (more than once!)

Would like to see: Billy Elliott, Wizard of Oz, oh, and Shrek!!

What has been your favourite: I've loved them all for different reasons.....Joseph was probably my least favourite!

My OH bought the tickets to Dirty Dancing for us a few years ago. He had never been to see a show and has absolutely loved going since (clearly a guilty pleasure for him!! ?)

I loved the animals in the Lion King too!!

I have never been to the West End as such, but love shows. Am going to see sweeney Todd at the Adelphi after the honeymoon (is that West End?) and very excited.

Have seen Phantom and am going again next week, Lion King which was amazing, Guys and Dolls, fab, The Producers which was really funny, Chicago imo quite dull, Joseph which was cheesy, Fame was OK, Beauty and the Beast which was spectacular.

Miss Saigon is brilliant and my all time favourite, I saw it about 6 times while it was on here!

I don't think I've laughed so much - my cheeks were hurting afterwards

Have seen Chicago (not impressed), Dirty Dancing, Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia!

Seeing DD again in Cardiff in November (cant wait).

Watched Mamma Mia in New York and was totally awesome being on Broadway.

Fave - would be a toss up between DD and Mamma Mia (MM being slightly ahead as it was on Broadway!)

Over the years I've seen: Chicago, Cats, Mamma Mia, The Producers, Spamalot, My Fair Lady, Saturday Night Fever, Guys and Dolls,

Non musicals: Noises Off (a farce which I think is back on again now and is very funny), The Ladykillers

I've heard good things about One Man Two Guvnors (again non musical)

I'd like to see Wicked and Les Miserables and the Lion King

Can't decide on my favourites - lots of good things about most of them. Only one I wasn't that much of a fan of was Saturday Night Fever but that was MIL's choice to go (for her birthday) not mine.

    Seen;

Cats, Miss Saigon, Phantom, Chicago, Starlight Express, Jospeh, Mamma Mia, Saturday Night Fever,Oliver, Les Mis, The Lion King and Grease (there have probably been more thats all I can remember for now)

My fave was Chicago but more for the Fosse choreography (not sure Mr Flow is into that?) Maybe don't take him to a musical as it may be too much if he has never been? What about a straight play like War Horse?

Seen: Cats, Miss Saigon, Starlight Express, Grease (with Craig Mac whatever Aussie bloke Neighbours or Home & Away?), Joseph (with Philip Schofield), Chicago, Mamma Mia, Buddy Holly, My Fair Lady, Sunday in the Park with George (dragged along by ex on the hottest day in the world ever, tube wasn't fun that day!).

Ex also dragged me along to an opera by Philip Glass. Far too long, uncomfy seats (numb bum!), it was also sung in Sanskrit (an ancient language) so they put some subtitles up on a screen but cos he was a skin flint we were again up in the gods and there was a bar blocking out the subtitles! Wish I'd taken along a book to read during the performance!

Best: Cats & Starlight Express. Chicago was pretty good too - our seats were up in the gods but in the theatre it was in and with the set it was probably the best place to sit.

Would love to see: Lion King, Phantom, Les Mis

I've seen: Lion King, We Will Rock You, Mary Poppins, Les Mis (x2), Wicked (x5!), The Producers, Rent, Avenue Q, Zorro, Shrek, Phantom of The Opera, Fame, Aspects of Love, Joseph, Spamalot, Matilda, The Wizard of Oz, Little shop of Horrors, Legally Blonde...I think that's all!

Wicked is great...I have never spoken to anyone who hasn't enjoyed it.

Musically, Les Mis or Phantom are my favourites.

Law Will Rock You is fab, ESP if you like Queen.

I really want to see Singing In The Rain and Sweeny Todd. And am seeing Jersey Boys in June.

Miss Saigon, Les Mis, Lion King, Mary Poppins, west side story, 42nd street, the king and I, phantom, joseph, Jesus Christ Superstar, blood brothers, singing in the rain, billy elliot, chicargo, we will rock you, mama mia, dirty dancing.
