nothing, everything wedding we had has been done before. Being on hitched sees to that. A friend of mine is getting married and told me about her great idea of the guests being able to have pic n mix sweets!! She was beyond happy with her original idea. I diddnt have the heart to tell her....

Not very original as I have stolen the idea from american weddings, but we're having a build your own burger bar for dinner and a milkshake and cookies bar for evening snack Smiley smile

    I had personalised M&Ms. I didn't think their we're particularly original!

I had a wedding in a back garden. That feels quite special.

Pudding - Your food sounds amazing. My husband would be thrilled with it all. And I'd love the milkshakes.

Thankyou, trying to go all out for the american diner look! Just a bit worried about heavy beer drinkers having a milkshake after- that wont go down well :s

I am hoping to hire a replica Tardis ?

I have no idea if it's unique or not though, I haven't been to a wedding in a very very long time, so it's all very new to me!

Aww I feel bad for the OP. This could have been quite an interesting topic! I'm sure if she'd said "different" rather than "unique" the replies would have been nicer.

I don't think anyone wasn't nice, just honest. With wedding blogs and forums, it's hard to have stuff that's original these days.

I'm having scrabble tiles as nameplates after seeing them on a wedding on here (a Hitcher even gave me half my tiles!). I'm having a mirror table plan after seeing it at a wedding about 5 years ago. Still love them though even if they're not unique!

I agree, it's difficult to have something that is totally unique because if it exists in the wedding market - then it's because people have it! I don't think anyone wasn't nice to the OP, just honest. It's you, your guests and the combination of things you choose to have at your wedding that makes it unique.

Like Mini, a colleague at my work came in to tell us how wonderful a wedding she'd attended was - because they'd had a sweet buffet! Bless her, she'd not been to a wedding in 20 odd years!

Ideas are only not very unique to US because we are on a wedding forum and 'in the process' so have a good idea of what ideas are out there. A lot of my friends got married recently, none of them had a sweet buffet but I'm sure they knew of them. Unless your guest have recently got married - things you have may be different to them, I know a lot of my guest will be delighted at my 'unusual touches' when to those of us WP they are zzzzzzz!

"I have no idea if it's unique or not though" I think it could be I have never seen this or even anything like, the nearest I have seen is the table names were startrek releated, But now everyone is going to want one thanks to you. Will it be bigger on the inside?

There was a gorgeous lounge in our venue, comfy sofas and a big fireplace, which we used for a whiskey room. We had 8 different malts and water and ice for people to help themselves. I've not seen that idea before.

    I haven't got an 'in the flesh' pic as they won't be here until the beginning of June but here's a sample;

I'm stupidly excited about them and will flash at any opportunity! As soon as they're here I'll be flashing again.

I think we have a lot of things that aren't the norm, but have definitely all been done before.

However, the combo of all our things means it will be a very unique and special day Smiley smile

    Unique? no.

    Special? yes :-)

It's all been done before by someone I'm sure, but we are putting our stamp on the day and that is what is important to us: bunting, windsocks, circus skills workshop, folk music, everyone bringing instruments and jamming at will (including my youngest with her cornet!), running tea and biscuits all day, free real ale bar, inflatable camping sofas to make a quiet corner for tired children/grannies, ceilidh, cake of cheese for evening buffet, ice cream van, fish and chip van, barbecue, home made wedding dress and home-grown flowers and lots more touches and games. None of it unique to us, but all of it new to us ;-)

Of course the really important bit, the ceremony, will be ours as we will select our vows and readings, but there is always a chance that someone else would come up with the same words.

This was what I thought of. Our choice of venues and combination of ideas means I'm sure that no one has had my exact day before but no one thing is unique. My family, most of whom are a bit older and not been to a wedding in years, generally think that ALL our ideas are unique, even though I know they are not! They had never heard of a photo booth, cake pops, having a Ceilidh band etc...in fact when I told my Mum we were having a Fish & Chip van for the evening food, she apparently said to my brother's girlfriend 'I'm sure she's just making up these crazy ideas to try and freak me out!' However I have since showed her a few wedding magazines and she now realises that everything we are having is pretty standard these days!

I had ME at my wedding, starring as "THE BRIDE".

    Totally unique.

Other than that, it was the yellowest wedding known to man. Yellow flowers, tables, walls, cake - absolutely yellowtastic.
