What are you doing for your hen do?

Pink Han-bag, 10 July, 2012 at 17:13 Posted on Planning 0 37

I have no idea what I want to do Smiley sad Please inspire me!

I think I want something with a few components so people could pick and choose what they want/can come to but other than that I'm not sure.

I am undecided for myself as yet.

My best friend gets married before me, and for her hen night we are going camping. I am going to arrange a smallish campsite where we can all go, about 30 all together. Between the 4 in our group that are regular campers, we have 13 tents. The plan is that me, my OH and a few other menfolk head over the day before, set up the tents, gazebo, bunting, fairy lights, BBQs. Then the men go home and the ladies join me on Friday evening for BBQ, drinks etc. Saturday will involve afternoon tea, some party games and an evening of drinking and silly games. Campsite Sunday Dinner (which rock, it has to be said) and then everyone else goes home, and the men come and help me de-camp :-) I cant wait! I wish it was mine! lol

My hen do wont be for another year yet but I already know what I would like to do..

I want to go to Blackpool Pleasure Beach for the day, go on some rides, buy some rock, visit the beach and do some cheesy things..

Then I want to go stay in a hotel, put on some nice clothes and then go for drinks and dinner.

The idea of a "proper" hen night out in Blackpool really doesnt appeal but I am slightly worried about it being boring. I work for the chain and will have to email them to beg them to let us in at discounted rates so I will need to reassure them that we wont be really loud and obnoxious. This also means no hen night material i.e L plates, sashes, costumes etc which doesnt bother me but again I hope my friends wont find it too boring for a hen night. Its the kind of thing we would all do anyway but do people expect hen nights to be a bit different?

I don't know because my BM's won't tell me! I do have a feeling that it may be a little trip abroad ?

If this wasn't happening then I would have liked "It's a knockout" challenge against other hen and stag parties....This would definitely bring out the competitive side of me - I may save it for my big 30th birthday instead!

LOL When I asked my Best Friend if she would be my Bridesmaid the first thing she said was "We're going to Whitley Bay dressed as Nuns!" like literally the first thing she said ? sounds good though so I'm not complaining!

However, my IDEAL hen weekend would be to go do a Zombie Apocalypse Paintballing/Riot day & a 'sleepover' (chilled night in PJ's and lots of booze in a hotel) then the day after a spa treatment and a big night out!

Weekend away in Paris, a surprise treat for me paid for by my friends.

Main one was in Manc, a meal, then drinks/clubs after. People who wanted a quieter night could leave after the meal, those that wanted to only spend money on drinks could meet us later. As it happens everyone chose to attend the meal, and most people stayedout with us drinking til the early hours!

I'm probably going to let my bm's sort out the final details but I want some ideas to give them that are in a reasonable budget as they don't know all the people that will be coming.

pandorasbox, I didn't realise you were in Manchester!

My MOH has the main control over mine. We have discussed how I felt about it being a surprise and have come to the conclusion that I can know where and when and that is pretty much it. My worst nightmare would be to whisked away with my bags already packed lol.

I think we will be going abroad for a long, boozy, crazy weekend a month-ish before and then having a sedate, family friendly affair the week before the wedding.

Mine is next weekend! Early dinner and cocktails, then going to see the Dirty Dancing musical (getting dressed up for it too!). Afterwards meeting up with some of the girls from work and going on to an 80s bar. 3 of us are staying over and will go out for brunch the next day before getting the train home Smiley smile

Am excited about my hen do too! we've just started arranging it this week! we're staying local but decided to stay in a hotel in the town centre rather than pay a fortune to get home in a taxi! so we're making a day of it! I've got my make-up trial in the morning so we're gonna head into town for lunch and some cocktails, then go back to the hotel with some more drinks on board and get ready! fancy dress 80s neon!! we're meeting up with the rest of the girls in a vodka bar then going for an hours ride round town in a limo, then we've put our names on the guest list for an 80s nightclub! can't wait!!!

I'm going to Ireland to see my Step Mum and sisters, spending the weekend going to an outdoor go ape type of thing, meals and other bits.

For my UK hen do, I'm going to Newmarket Races.

I'm hoping for a quiet meal out with some friends. If we had the money, I'd want to do an in-home beauty session (pay for say 2 treatments for each of you) and a wine tasting along with it, but they're very expensive.

That sounds fantastic! I would love that too.

This week my mum and sister treated me to a spa day at a hotel in the New Forest. It was fab! I had 2 treatments, back massage and a facial and spent the day going to the sauna, spa, pool and hot tub.

A couple of weeks before my wedding myself and 12 others are spending the day at Ascot. I've organised a coach to take us in the morning and pick us up that night. We will be watching and betting on races, picnic in the afternoon and then there will be an 80's concert late afternoon/early evening. My future MIL, mum and her friend are coming to this too as I thought the day would cater for everyone. We will get back home around 10ish so it will still be early enough to have drinks or go to a club if anyone is still up for it. I've made little Hen gift bags that includes all the usual but also a poncho each just in case it rains ?.

    Hi,

We had my daughter`s one this weekend and it was amazing. We went to a stylist day in Tottenham, then to a meal and casino taster in Leicester square, and then the bride, two bridesmaids and I went to the wireless festival on Sunday.

This was great and people could chose which parts they came to, and it suited all ages from 21 to 63.

A lot of planning but paid off

    Hope this helps

    Lynne

I only have four good friends so I was planning on going for afternoon tea at The Ritz...until I found out that the Ritz is closing down for TWO YEARS. So I'll probably go for afternoon tea somewhere like the Dorchester maybe, or do something totally different I don't know. I'm not big into alcohol and it'll be the weekend before my wedding due to my MOH coming over from the US, so it'll just have to be a day thing.

I really liked the idea of having a girlie movie night with lots of yummy food, but I don't have the space in my living room, and I can't seem to find any rental houses that have 5 bedrooms. And that let you rent for just one night...and have a nice living area with big TV....!

I've organised mine - my sister is a bit lastmin.com and I really wanted to give people plenty of notice in order to save.

We're going to Mundesley Beach House Norfolk, I found it on here. Someone said how lovely it was etc. So, we're going there on Fri afternoon/evening, Saturday we're having a pamper party by beauticians and a vintage tea party, then in the evening we're having our own chef cook a 3 course meal & drinks and then Sunday, we're going to chill before leaving for home.

16 of us are going at the moment, works out about £190pp - but this includes accommo, the activities, meal, petrol & all food. I'm going to do a tesco order to meet us at the house so there won't be any stress hopefully.

Infact, it's a year away today!!
