What are you having at your wedding that's on the 'don't like' list?

TamarValleyGirl, 30 March, 2013 at 19:10 Posted on Planning 0 62

We're having:

Formal sit-down dinner

Bride drinking pints (but not lager)

Speeches

Pink

Rock music (of all kinds, including shouty vocals)

Anyone else going to own up? ?

Animals at the wedding (our pug) not as a ring bearer or anything, but she'll definitely be there.

2 hour photoshoot (maybe not 2 hours) but it'll be a fair while!

    Drunk bride and groom

Rock music- metal, screamo the lot, ha!

    I am having:

    A sit down meal

    Rose petals on tables

    Chair covers (with silk sashes)

Pink (as much of it as I can get away with)

Some rock music during the evening reception, although only stuff people can dance to

    Pink

    Formal sit down dinner

Chair covers (I hate chair covers too but they come with my venue and would rather spend my money on other things rather than hiring in different chairs)

    Drunkenness is highly probable

Right..I'm going to COMPLETELY re-write this as I missed the original question by miles, but here's what we're having that's on the "don't like" list

    Pink (pale)

    Sit down meal

    Speeches

Goldfish bowl centrepieces (in the evening)

    Rose petals on the tables

    Balloons (arches)

Fruit wedding cake (it's not wedding cake if it's not fruit IMHO)

Children (1, maybe 2, maybe more!)

    Strapless bridesmaids dresses

Fake flowers (I have chronic anthrophobia, I'm likely to faint on my wedding day if I carry real ones!)

Chair covers with organza sashes (and teeny tiny fake flower bunches in the middle!)

Cascade bouquet (love them! HAD to have one!)

    Paper plates & plastic cutlery

Matchy-matchy wedding parties, the girls all wanted the same dress and the boys all wanted the same suit - not my problem, one less thing for me to worry about!

Choreographed first dance. We've been practising and practising and practicing some more. The awkward shuffle looks far worse!

Couples singing to one another - 'Summer Nights' was the first song we ever danced to together, there is no stopping us!

Waistcoats, H2B & the page boy are wearing them!

Pay bar- we pay to feed you, privide an arrival drink and a toast drink, a 5-hour disco.. be reasonable

Well..maybe to some I've committed a lot of sins there but to me it's the perfect wedding, it's my wedding and I wouldn't change one detail about it. If people don't like it, they can go back the way they came! IMHO, the people who matter won't know what they do or do not like, they will just be happy to celebrate with the newlyweds!

Over and out before I upset anyone

Blimey where do I begin lol?!

Probably fairly matching groom and dads (fil is bm)

Candy buffet- not planned, but given as an alternative to favours by the caterer as I'm doing my own favours PLUS we will have over 20 children (up to 13 but mostly under 6 years) !!!

Synthetic rose petals on the tables (possibly)

Chair covers (again thrown in with caterer package but a good job really as they are pretty ugly chairs without!)

Hmmmm I'm sure there was more than that- ill have to add on...

    Oh yeah,

Cascade bouquet , well, semi crescent at least

Pay bar - pink bubbly for welcome drink and wines for whoever wants it though.

And the biggest sin of all : a strapless dress without toned arms!!! The horror!!! ;0)

All the men are in matching suits, tails no less, although no top hats.

    Formal sit down dinner.

May be having Corinthians as a reading...it pains me that it's so popular but all of the others aren't really 'us'

I'm sure there's loads, but off the top of my head - pink, formal sit down meal, our dog will be there for the photos, probably the bride clutching a pint, we'll probably be rocking out to a bit of bon jovi at the evening do- so, screamy rock music there, and there's colour on my wedding dress.

I don't care, though, I like these things Smiley smile

Ooh there's so much on the 'don't like' list it would probably be easier to say what I'm not having! ? But here goes, we're having:

Pink (probably not that much though)

    Speeches

    Chair covers

Most likely a very drunk bride by mid-evening

    A sit down meal

    Father/daughter dance (hopefully!)

I am so jealous of the people that are going to have their pets there. OT'ers will know how much I love my mogs. Sadly they cannot be trysted at a wedding like dogs can.

Mini, we wouldn't have Wispa there if it was for the whole day. As it is, Nutella will be keeping her occupied during the ceremony, and she's just coming to join us all for the photos. I do think we're going to make sure she's not too excitable, though. It's a little bit of a worry... The boarder is coming to pick her up before the meal, though, so it's only a short period of time she'll be there.

    Dusky Pink

    Children

Pay Bar - I appreciate my guests attending my wedding but if we had a spare few grand it'd be spent on our kids long before spending it on people to get drunk Smiley smile

Fair enough Smiley smile I think my comment about pay bars is more along the lines of people who spend loads of money on things like doves and chair covers rather than things guests enjoy, like food and drink. It's a priorities thing, and it's completely fair if people prioritise children or mortgages over booze!

Chair covers. (Venue have told us we have to do this & go with their company)

    Flip flop basket.

    Pay bar.

    Children.

Everyone has their own tastes and there will always be something you have that someone else doesn't like but who cares, you are marrying your love, nothing else matters! (Bit of slushiness there!).

I am a bit confused over the whole pay bar thing though, have actually never been to an open bar wedding. A pay bar has never bothered me in the slightest.

    We will be having:

Pay Bar - Drinks will be provided after the ceremony until after the wedding breakfast (does include a drinks package with meal)..then they are on their own. (We will only have close family and a few friends at the ceremony so know they won't take advantage..couldn't say the same for the night guests!)

Matching suits - Groom, BM, FOB and 2 Ushers will all be in the same..maybe with the exception of a different colour tie for the OH.

Purple and Vintage - I love both!

    Speeches

Father Daughter Dance (my Dad has even offered to go to dance lessons with me as I always dreamed of doing the waltz or something when I was little)

Can't think of anymore off the top of my head but I'm sure there are others..

    ... fruit cake

i would also say matchy matchy (kind of, but different tones? not sure how strict we are on this) THIS i'm trying to stomp. hell i'll like a rainbow wedding Smiley laugh groom said no Smiley sad plus the hotel is brightly coloured so the purple i wanna play down as much as I can and inject some eletric blue in there.

Groomsmen will be wearing same suit (different ties)

Flip flop basket (but with ballet type pumps not flip flops)

pay bar (I've never been to a wedding that wasn't!)

Pets - really hoping we can arrange to have our Collie at some part of the wedding, hopefully for the photos! She's too young and excitable to be there too long but I'd love her to be in some photos at least! Smiley smile

    There's probably others but I can't remember!

Second this, I can barely trust my two to behave at home without something kicking off!

In terms of the wedding, I cant be bothered to list anything and I should really be getting ready for a christening but I am having lots and lots and I like it ?

However, I do want my groom to stand out a bit more from the others in matching suits, he thinks it is mad as everyone will know who the groom is so we need to come up with some sort of compromise like a different colour button hole..

Lots! Including something I put on my don't like list... poems asking for money ☹️ because the MIL and her sis are talking like it goes without saying that we'll have one and they're overbearing at the best of times so I don't know how I'll get out of it without them thinking I'm mad.

Pay bar - I'd love to pay for my guests to drink but I don't have the money and besides I've never been to a wedding when there's a free bar.

    Cravats

    Matching men's outfits

    Drunk bride and groom

    Formal sit down dinner.........

    Seriously, the list is endless

Chair covers - our chairs are gross and cannot afford to hire in new. The only things I really don't like about chair covers is that you can't get you're feet underneath them!

Children in the shape of a flower girl, page boy and ring bearer - Niece, best man's lad, nephew - wouldn't be right without them

Formal sit down meal - We like food, don't you want a free meal?

Pay bar - we're getting dinner about 4 of your drinks, I cannot fund your further alcohol needs, if its a problem, bring a hip flask Smiley smile

Speeches - my Dad has been waiting for this day for 26 years and I want to hear too

Rock music - yes there will be some rocking at a low level, one of our guests has requested AC/DC - I'll play if you'll dance

Sweetie bar - again we like food, in particular sweets!

Probs a drunk Bride/Groom - I hope he can help me out of my dress through, don't really fancy asking the caretaker to help me undress after everyones gone...

Cravats - probably depending on which suit he chooses

Ah yes the suit will be tails

    And grey

And will match with the others

And compliment the BM's colour of their long dresses

Who my Mom will also compliment in colour Smiley smile

Think thats it... I love it though!

My OH is having a different button hole, his will be more full and I am leaning towards everyone else's being white and his just being the colour one. Think the BMs will be having white bunches and mine will just be the colour one IYCSWIM

    We're having:

    Formal sit-down meal

Short ceremony (Don't know what short means - ours will only be 15-20mins long. I guess that's short compared to a church ceremony)

Coloured wedding dress & short (knee length) - shocking!

    Speeches

    Flowergirls & pageboy

Pay bar - we're paying for everyone's accommodation + main meals w/accompanying drinks Friday to Sunday. On wedding day providing reception drink, toast & half bottle of wine, so if they want something else they can bloody well pay for it themselves, lol!

Sit down meal, food that's to the lowest common denominator (to suit most - which is therefore pleasing other people), no gift list, venue not especially expensive, loud shouty rock music, a dress that is both non traditiional white and coloured, shoes that are flat (and dark green, does that count as quirky ?) matching bridesmaids (and loads of them). I think the groom is matching his bunch too. a car that looks a little wind in the willows if you squint a bit. Bride drinking pints (no lager, PLEASE, it will be real ale !). i am sure I missed loads that people love to hate too (table numbers in BR lettering theme ?).
