What are your exercise regimes for your wedding?

yummymummy05, 23 August, 2010 at 21:10 Posted on Planning 0 27

I'm in need of inspiration and new things. I'm currently getting in from work and going on a 30 minute walk, then coming back and doing some basic exercises. ie; sit ups, weights, push ups.

I have 2 and a bit months to get into a dress that doesnt fit and i'm driving myself crazy as its all i can think about at the moment. Could really do with a UK version of 'Buldging Brides'. lol

Can anyone help? Any advice/inspiration would be greatly appreciated

Ooooooh we are date twins except a year apart! I will have to pay close attention to your wedding report.

I've joined a gym but have only managed to go once and have just scoffed some apple and strawberry pie and a glass of vino whoops. Really intend to go three times a week and work very hard, its the only thing that will shift my post baby pounds.

Have you thought about one of those fitness DVDs? I got a yoga/pilates one and good grief it was hard work. Or the Ministry of Sound ones are hilarious and a good, sweaty work out.

I joined Curves tonight, they have a deal on which is £39 for 6 weeks and then you can decide if you want to join for longer, looks like a really good idea, you get to work on resistance machines instead of weights - the bonus is that it's only 30mins!!!!

I have thought about the DVDs and have the Charlie Brooks one from a few years ago. The only problem with the DVDs is that if i miss something or lose the 'motion' (cant think of the right word). i get bored and give up. I'd much prefer to go out for a walk and not take anything with me so i get so far and then know i have to walk back home no get the bus home. IYSWIM.

Woohooo. A date twin (kind of)

Have you thought of doing a detox diet? theres loads of them around. Im going to the gym twice a week

well trying to go twice sometimes its only once! Oops!! lol I do go to the boducombat class which is great fun! Iv cut the rubbish out of my diet as well. and cut the portion sizes. I had kinda "plateaued" with my weight loss and started drinking aloe vera gel. and the weight has started to come off again. it aids digestion, so helps that way! Smiley smile

I do army bootcamp style sessions-which are very similar to the bulging brides activities. Very hard work but I love it!

I go to the gym and help out with my mate's horses (lifting feed sacks, grooming etc etc) and also take her dog for very long walks.

All this has toned me up but I haven't really lost weight (I'm still sturdy). My main exercise for my arms is baking cakes, lifting glasses of wine to my mouth and typing on Hitched. These exercises I find are most enjoyable!

Get yourself an exercise ball - they are really good for your posture and toning up. x

I would love a uk version of bulging brides!!!

I'm currently doing wii fit plus, deep water aerobics once a week as well as a few lengths afterward, and zoe luckers fitness dvd. I'm like you I can't really afford to keep going to the gym so a dvd maybe your best bet or going for long weekend or try and find your self a tommys playground lol.

Maybe you would be better running for 30 mins instead of walking would burn a lot more calories and is still free, if you dont want to join a gym why dont you find somewhere that runs exercise classes that you cn pay for each time you go, will proabaly work out cheaper and no commitment to keep going after the wedding! Round my area they do them at the council run leisure centres and local places like village halls/community centres! x

I think what your doing sounds great, just try and up the speed and or distance of your walk over the following weeks so you are alwaysins pushin gyourself for a bit. My excercise has slipped a bit due to demands of work and commuting everyday but to give you an idea:-

I go to the gym 2-3 times a week I do some cardio (carying the machine use stepper, crosstrainer bike etc...) I also use the free wights to help build strength and tone up.

Excercise balls are great for working your core muscles I have been working with one for a few weeks and can alreaddy see some definition round my tummy.

I try and go jogging 2-3 times a week (depending on how much cardio I have done in the gym) it's free and really satisfying once you start bettering your previous time or distance.

I do a ballet class once a week (although that has stopped for summer) and we just got an allotment so digging and raking are prooving great arm toners!

    Other ideas are

attack house work with vigour hoovering dusting etc... all count, take stairsinsted of liftsand elevators, and fill firdge with healthy things for snacking on when th4e munchies attack it's a great time of yeat due to all the lovely summer fruit around that you can snack on. One other though is if you drink try and cut out alchol for a month no empty calories from the drink and no alcohol induced munchies eiether!

LOL Spangles these are the activities I most enjoy too! I really must work on my arms, they are real dinner lady arms at the moment. Oh and my flabby tummy. Err and flabby legs. Oops. I've lost 3 or 4 pounds over the last couple of weeks just cutting out the rubbish so will continue with that and maybe get my lardy bum down the gym a few times.

Maybe we could all do a weekly weigh in check, see how we are getting on?

I go to pilates once a week and try to do an aerobics DVD 2-3 times a week. I've also reduced my alcohol consumption during the week.

At the moment my exercise regime consists of loudly complaining that I need to lose weight, whilst munching biscuits and guzzling wine. Not terribly useful.

I have invested in the Davina 'power of 3' dvd though so just need to find some time and motivation during the day to do that. I want to try out this Zumba thing too! And there's a Curves place in Bletchley so not too far out from me, which I might try and go to if I can get the money out of h2b!

    Hi

I am doing my Wii Fit for 30 mins each morning and a street dance class once a week, i still have seven months to the wedding, so will look to increase the exercise (once i get some lbs off) in about a months time to include jogging 2/3 a week.

I am exactly the same! Crisps are my downfall. Alcohol and chocolate i can take or leave. I do a very active job but i think either my metabolism has slowed down as i have got older or my food intake has increased. The latter is more likely i reckon. My H2B gave up smoking in January and has also lost 2 stone. jammy sod, bbut he now needs to tone up. So we are off to the local swimming pool with my son tonight. I reckon we will ache tomorrow.

Good luck everyone with your exercise and weight loss.

Do you just do sit ups on your ball? I'm sure we have one of these in the cupboard and it is definitely my gut that needs some extra work!

Firstly in my opinion you have to combine a quality diet with exercise to really lose weight, I don't think they do much on there own.

I don't diet as such, but just keep my weight in check by just eating quality food. Balance meat, veg, I have salad with practically everything. Lots of feta cheese, olives, grilled meat. We make all our dinners from the basic components, which I think is the secret. Even a jar of pasta sauce is full of chemicals and fat, and its just so dead easy to make.
I love burgers, but make them myself from mince. Again much healthier, and takes 10 minutes.

For exercise, asides from running after the kids and walking the dog, I go to Zumba once a week and Yoga once as well.

Both are a really good work out. I'm drenched at the end of the Zumba class and in a good mood, because I find my instructor (who is gay) just so funny.
Yoga is great for toning. I think the two are a great combination.

I run- I know its hard work but it shifts weight quickly and also tones you up fast. Maybe you could start by walking 1 min then jogging 1 min? Good luck! x

I love the Tracy Anderson workout, you can really feel it working. It is different to other workouts, they have this routine for smaller arms which really tiring but definetly works, i have seen some amazing improvments

I use weightlossresources.co.uk which is basically calorie counting, so it calculates how many calories you need to eat to sustain weight loss at a particular level (up to 2lb a week), and has a massive food database which you use to fill out your food diary each day to try & stay within the calorie limit. But the best thing for me is that if you exercise and log that exercise, it gives you the extra calories you have burnt, so it's an incentive to exercise more as I can see that it earns me more food! Smiley smile

It's working so far, I have lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks (only supposed to be losing 1.5lb a week) Smiley laugh
