What are your Hitched pet peeves?

Just a bit of light hearted fun to see me through the rest of the day. What annoys you on Hitched? I'll start... 1) People asking for an opinion then getting upset when they get some. 2) People who start loads of threads, rarely go back to them to thank the contributors and very rarely comment on...

Common use says RSPCA is an acronym, but I checked with Google and he said that the 'correct use' is only if you can make it a new word rather than just reciting the letters.(Sorry if the formatting is all to pot. I'm on my phone now and it's pants.) My pet is seriously peeved today at Hitched deciding to send each email notification 3 times, so far. I had 87 emails just now and about 5 were actually new posts.

Tiny, I turned off email notifications ages ago. I don't get any unless someone actually sends me a private message.

Three Letter Acronyms (or Abbreviations), hence the irony! Although these days, it's used for any number of letters. It's generally used within computing.

As an aside, apparently the strict definition of an acronym is where you can pronounce the abbreviation as a single word (eg DOS, RAM, ROM etc), otherwise it's simply an abbreviation.

I think I might have to do that. I quite like them usually because replying to them on my phone is so much quicker than going into the main page and then sifting through everything to find the bit I want to reply to. It also means I can see if there's anything else I can add without, again, going through the main page and sifting. Thanks snowbunny. I thought I was right ?

    1) I hate it when people have the title as HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - just tell us in the subject box.

    2) Grammar & Spelling - just seen this on a thread im in: 'I knew it fitted purfectly as it was the one I had tried on. ARE YOU A CAT?

    3) Too many Good Luck Threads you have to go to page 6 to find an actual thread.

I know a few people have mentioned the Good Luck threads but there are only so many at the moment because of the time of year. T'is the season to get hitched and all that.

A separate forum has been mentioned a few times but the general consensus is that people will just ignore it and the threads will not get many replies.

It isn't really the end of the world to click to page 2 or 3 is it?

Hating the hearting is quite a new thing TBH.

I believe it's down to the "ouchy eyes" too many hearts seem to cause. Any maybe they're a tad too fluffy for the OT folks???

They're useful on BT though, for the BA's and BFPs

    Ok heres mine:

People who get the under crackers in twist over my spelling and or grammer - Im dyslexic and no longer in school, writing a disiertation or at work im writing on a free forum for chat / advice. Most of the time in a rush to reply before my boss see's my screen. Smiley tongue

I know spelling gets to people but no need to point it out and make me feel like even more of a thicky! (Got this at work the other day when a boss asked me to give him the correct spellings for diffrent uses of the word principle and principal) Mate I cant even spell "they" unless I remember that Tall Hamsters Eat Yogurt"

I am however a major lol user and a fluff bunny!

    Thanks

    Huni's !!

    xxxxxx

I tend not to like a majority of threads that being with "am I being a Bridezilla????" when the 'problem' is to do with colour of the bridesmaids' cat's collar not going with the shabby chic theme or something.

My major peeve is the use of 'lol'. For some reason it annoys me more in lowercase, no idea why. But yeah, I don't like any laughing acronyms.

I just thought of another one:

*Troll starts a ridiculous thread about how they can't have sex with their partner because their husband to be is actually a woman who has had her bits sewn up *

*A regular posts a sarcastic comment, knowing full well that the OP is a troll*

*Regular poster gets a massive backlash from noobies saying "OMG, why are some people so harsh. They only wanted advice."*

Advice? Really? You REALLY think that the OP was genuine?

I think the hating of the hearts began becuase there was a phantom hearter who hearted every thread so they lost all meaning. When you have a page full of hearted threads you definately get ouchy eyes. They work much better over on BT.

One of my biggest pet peeves on here is when people quote conversations and don't delete the extra spaces, leaving a really large post with not much in it.

OM's or people who have been on here for aggges ganging up or being "clicky" and ruining someones question by making there question seem small or stupid.

I have been married before, being married makes you no better than anyone else!

I agree people who don't look at the last 5-6 pages of questions before writing the same question again. Although i don't think i have ever used the search box before i posted a question.

Sorry, I know everyone is going to say "you haven't read the welcome feed" but what is a hearter? I don't understand? Is it the little icon thingy people use or is it the hearts at the top of the feed when you vote how good a feed is?

Calm down dear? As Kharv said, it is just a light hearted post and no-one had taken offence until now. These posts (and similar) often come up on hitched as the world is not all fluffy and it's important to be able to recognise this within a normal discussion. Hitched is not all sweetness and candy floss and mirrors the real world, e.g. In real life we all have our pet peeves, nothing wrong with discussing them. Personally, I find the attitudes on this forum to be refreshing and thats why I use it rather than any forum.

You didn't use text speak, it wasn't particularly long and, from what I can tell having only just woken up, your grammar seems fine. However, you have obviously failed to read the OP properly. 'a bit of light hearted fun to get me through the day'. Most people on this thread comment regularly with helpful advice and give honest opinions. So what if we have pet peeves, it's our right to have opinions and things that annoy us. If someone said 'I can't stand bad spelling and grammar and refuse to comment or help unless the OP is perfectly written' then you may have had a point, but really you're just getting your knicks in a twist over something everybody else has found really entertaining, hence the number of comments Smiley smile
