What do you think?

warlycarly, 4 November, 2011 at 13:14 Posted on Planning 0 23

At the moment our colour scheme is royal blue, but i have decided that as it is a bold colour I need another colour to break it up. so I thought about baby blue, So my BMs will in in royal and my FGs in baby blue, do tou think this would work?

Something like this (maybe)

    Hi there,

We are having royal blue for our colour scheme aswell but I am using silver in with ours for a bit of contrast. I think maybe the baby blue is a bit too pale with the striking royal blue. Our flower girl is in ivory with a royal blue sash so that its not too much blue.

I don't like the baby blue either. I'm having cobalt blue, which is similar to royal blue, but I'm not having flower girls.

If I was, though, I'd be tempted to put them in ivory/white with a blue sash or something.

Silver goes lovely with blue so you could go for silver if you wanted another colour, but I think blue & ivory/white is lovely just on it's own Smiley smile

I like the idea of the baby blue but I think it's the dress or material that isn't working for me. If I'm honest I think the flower girl dress looks a bit dated, but it might look better on.

Sorry if this isn't helping much!

    Hi,

We are having mirrors in the centre with silver and blue balloons - not everyones cup of tea I know but cheaper than flowers! with silver and blue scatter crystals. I've made silver and blue wine glass charms for favours and our menu, placename stationary etc is all ivory/silver.

I had a bright turquoise blue and my flowergirl was in ivory with the same colour sash.

I wouldn't break it up with a paler blue, I would go with a contrast colour like pink or green?

I was about to say exactly the same, the 2 styles of dress just don't work together so that makes the colours not work.

I agree with Katie and 3d, the flower girl dress looks outdated. I think most people go for what Mrs C has suggested and have the FG's in ivory with a splash of colour matching the BM's. Failing that, whats wrong with having them both in the same colour and fabric so they match?

We're having royal blue, ivory, touches of silver and flowers are yellow. But nobody will be wearing anything as bold as your bm dress, so ours are more a little bit of each colour.

I think something like royal blue with baby blue touches in accessories could work well, or have a coloured sash or shawl.

Our friends who got married recently had almost the exact same shade of blue as yours, and the bride's dress was silver. Her FG was in a dress with silver at the top, and a big blue skirt. The blue and silver worked very well together. We're having navy and I'm wearing ivory, so we're using the ivory to break the navy up - bm's have an ivory sash and fg is in an ivory dress with navy bow.

I was told that because it is such a bold colour, and having the Groom, Best Man, Usher, and my Dads having their waistcoats in that blue, and the BMs having their dresses in the same colour, the flower girls will make it look too 'in your face' IYKWIM.

I'm not a great fan of the pale blue I must admit- Silver seems to be a popular choice with blue- it's quite a jewel like colour- maybe another bright/jewel like one like a purple??

We had black but kept the flowergirls just in the ivory, we did buy sashes the same as the bridesmaids dresses but ended up leaving them off as they were finr without. I think the littler ones look lovely in the ivory compiments the bride and makes a nice contrast in the photos especially with such a lovely bright blue ivory would be fab. Heres ours (although blck you get the idea) we put black ribbon on their flowers so you could always do that with the blue...
