What has been the best/worst part of WP?

Chidders, 25 August, 2011 at 13:51 Posted on Planning 0 28

For me I think the best would be booking the Venue, as it was relatively straightforward and we both felt the same about it. Worst, atm is booking the honeymoon.

What about you?

    For me:

Best: looking through magazines (I never normally read magazines but I get a butterfly with wedding mags) and a day of dress shopping.

Worst: The constant falling out with my Mum who "just wants the best for me" but took a year to understand that just because she wants it doesn't mean I do too.

Although really the best bit is knowing that H2b loves me so much he wants to commit to me forever and soon i will be Mrs W!

Best: shopping, meeting lovely suppliers, attending wedding fairs & getting pampered, trying on dresses & of course having the most amazing day ever with my OH!

Worst: saving all the £ (worth it yes but still hard to do), the stress & MIL

Mostly the best bit for me was going to book the church, knowing we were finally getting married.

The worse has been deciding the big things:

Deciding what kind of reception we were having was stressful, as i kept changing my mind and wasn't sure if people would come (FiL helpfully kept telling me that anything out of the ordinary and too far away from where we live and no one would come)

I didn't really enjoy dress shopping as i felt like a right fat moo in increasingly ridiculous dresses until i found the one.

Deciding on a car is proving to be ridiculous because i wanted something unusual like a VW beetle but PiL don't agree and want a traditional type car. Admittedly i don't think my dress will fit into a beetle but there are other options too like a camper van that they don't think will be a good idea.

My cousin doing our photos is turning out to be a tiny bit stressful, trying to get me to cancel my uncle doing photos too because she wants to be the only one despite the fact she seems to think its a five minute job and told me the other night 'oh no i won't be taking photos all day. Half an hour is fine, you don't need two hours like the venue said.' Right then... She also took offence at PiL wanting to see some of her work to see that she is good and that we're not going to regret not booking a professional. Its a good job she's a good photographer or i'd be telling her to eff off and just booking a professional anyway.

    Hmmmm, toughie...

Best: - being able to let my creative juices flow and come up with little touches that will (hopefully) make our day that little bit extra special

Worst: - definatly not having as much 'free' cash as i used to boooooooooooooooo

Best: agreeing on the perfect way for us to marry - in private with no guests in Africa.

Worst: having to change the date and the associated expense and hassle.

Worst bit definitely paying for everything.

Best bit? If I hadn't met my b2b in the first place, none of this would be happening.

    Oooh, good question......! Erm.....

Best - defo trying on wedding dresses and finding 'the one'.... I loved being all girly cos usually I'm not....

Worst? Trying to keep everyone happy, being let down - but then realising it's all about you and your H/W

I ❤️'d wedding planning - it didn't stress me out, some of the guests may have done though!!

So far the best bit has been picking the venue as it was something OH and I could do together and it was really easy as we both fell in love with the 1st place we looked round. He's normally pretty blasé about everything but even he was sold on it. Also the dress shopping and actually just the whole planning in general. I have no idea what I am going to do afterwards!!

The worst is deffo the money aspect of it. Saving constantly and not having to go out even half as much as we did. Hopefully it will all be worth it.

Best - deciding to just bugger off and get hitched, with just our kids and a couple of witnesses. STRESS FREE!!!!!!

Worst - deciding on shoes. I have a serious shoe addiction, and can't decide what shoes to wear.

Best: Planning all the details etc with hubby to be, reading the magazines etc

Worst: People being pathetic about guest lists and making demands, and bridesmaids not being available or interested

Worst bit - finding out 3 weeks before that MIL is a nightmare and has a bee in her bonnet about the guestlist. (it's too late love, I lost one nights sleep over it and that is quite enough now shoo!)

Having no money at all and having no time at all.

Best - Knowing I can rely on my friends in times of crisis. I knew this already but they have been amazing!

    Marrying OH! NEARLY THERE NOW!

Best - Deciding the big things and booking everything, then formulating our scheme and look

Worst - At the moment, that horrible nothingness stage. Chasing suppliers. Worrying about money

Had a big discussion about it all the other day and decided that we both want the big perfect wedding, so it'll be worth it in the end!

Best - dress shopping for me and fabric shopping for my BMs

Worst - agonising over the guest list and the associated bad dreams that no-one will come anyway!

Best bit: Shopping for bridesmaid dresses and the decisions on the detail have been fun.

Worst: the constant falling out with my mum and trying to keep people happy

Best bits - most of the planning really - I've enjoyed it, but booking the venue and getting our first RSVP back were pretty fab.

Worst bits - Paying for everything and dealing with OH's mum.

    Wellllllll where do i begin

BEST - Being proposed to was seriously the best thing so far. Loved finding the venue as fortunately we both wanted the same thing...when we booked that it felt great...finally trying my dress on again after i had bought it. Making save the dates and handing them out seeing everyones reactions was amazing. Knowing that im marrying my h2b is great he is lovely and kind and gorgeous ❤️

WORST - trying to find a wedding dress took me 5 months, of taking up all my Saturdays and getting me very stressed i hadnt found the one. thats the only worst thing sooooo so far so good Smiley smile

Oh and my impatience it's rather annoying and i juat want it to happen now. xx

Best - booking our venue and their FB page - so many pictures to help me get excited and they're so very organised i know it'll just be a breeze! And dress shopping of course, although this only took me one session so would maybe have liked a few more trips!

Worst - choosing the men's suits, or rather waistcoat/tie colours. OH and I have completely contrasting ideas which we're each passionate about, and are equally passionate about hating the other's ideas! Argh! It's the only thing we've argued about through the whole planning, and there is no end in sight - no idea how we'll compromise!

I'm not very far into my planning, but best so far has been the actual design planning, imagining how I want it all to look. The actual feel the wedding will have.

My only bad, fustrating part so far has been filtering through all the amateur photographers, pretending to be professionals.

Worst - the venue. Wish they had been nicer/more helpful.

best - dress shopping. It was so much fun trying on all the huge meringue dresses.

And that thing about knowing I'm going to marrying the love of my life has been ok too.
