What is wrong with me?

AmnesiaCustard, 16 May, 2012 at 14:09 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 113

Oh dear, I just forayed over to WP (Cricks, your fault for enticing me with the promise of things shiny) and have turned into the proverbial b**ch!!

EEK! why? I clearly have no patience with the minutiae of wedding planning and must stay away.

If I ever am planning my own wedding, I'm not sure I'll be over there much. It freaks me out!

I think you might need to elaborate a little AC! What did you say/do?

I have to say that I do NOT miss WP. Much too flowery. Is gentle sarcasm not allowed? I don't recall being so sensitive about my wedding!

I feel I may have been slightly acidic on a few threads eg "Ms is for divorced people" oh read your Debretts.

"What kind of pen shall i provide for people to sign the guest book?" GAH!

See, I have no patience. TBH I'm doing it IRL today too. Definitely having a "don;t mess with me day"

That was me! There is/was some good advice and tips on where to buy things but it's a bit too intense.

It is COMPLETELY different to what it was like when I first joined back in 2009. If you disagree with something you are branded bitchy.

I love the way that the last kick off was caused by the simplest of "smilies". Who'd have thought such a tiny little face would intice such drama.

I thought the biro comment was a sensible suggestion. CHeap, dependable and plentiful

The second gift one I think Tricks - you and Bazza used a couple of smileys that Ambs clearly took offence too!

It has changed so much it's unreal, I'm hardly ever over there because I can't take the fluffiness of it all!! It's no wonder some brides are posting questions here rather than over there ?

The second one about gifts at a wedding. The OP posted, then I think someone said something like "here we go again", I guess because of the last thread the day before, you posted zippy smilie ️?️ which I read as "I'm not getting involved in all this again after yesterday". Cue: Onslaught of handbags and shoes!

I tried to stay well clear of any of the dramas on the WP forum when they kicked off. I burst out laughing at the one about a pen?? My parent's put a biro down next to the tags for our wish tree. I couldn't tell you what the pen looked like!

*sigh* Brides to be. FAR to easily wound up in my opinion. I know i was when i was one! I can't believe the things that i thought were important while i was planning that on the day i just didn't care about!

It is getting a bit ridiculous over there. I will admit I have probably posted my fair share of stupid threads, as a child-bride with zero experience even of other people's weddings. But some questions just make you think "seriously?!". I just try to ignore them! (And, okay, read them for a laugh!)

To be honest I cant see myself posting much over on WP. Its all a bit too over the top and sensitive for me. But as Saisi said, some of them are good for a laugh whilst bored at work.

To be fair about the pen question - I have heard of people's messages fading on those signing frames if they're written in normal ink.

Doesn't matter for guestbooks but where the frame will be on the wall and possibly in sunlight, it should be signed in some sort of permanent/indelible ink.

I actually posted a sensible answer on that thread. We had a signing frame and I wanted to make sure I had the correct pens.

I get wound up about stuff to do with the wedding, but not what people post here.

Maybe some people just plain don't understand the art of sarcasm?

I won't be over there much when we start planning. I will still use it but just can't be doing with it constantly... it's just all fluff and drama.

Should maybe clarify myself...I burst of laughing about the idea of a pen thread(images of sparkley pen vs common biro crossed my mind), before i actually read what it was about! It was fair enough tbh once i realised what the actual content was!
