What songs make you happy?

feathers, 30 January, 2009 at 23:16 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 16

There seems to be a fair few sad posts around tonight. So which songs make you feel uplifted and happy? The Mr Big post has me thinking about this. For me it would have to be something cheesy, something like a bit of Abba or stuff from the early 90's such as Rhythm is a Dancer and the like. Would you go cheesy, uplifting, dancey or random? What songs make you smile?

Believe it or not, anything by Depeche Mode ?

I put on dance music, immediately depressed.

Put on Rock music, it takes me back to a time when I was young, free and optimistic.

I will stick to Depeche Mode ?

Currently Spaceman by the Killers - also I saw the video for the first time last night and it's very David Bowie. Cheestastic!

I heard a song on the radio this morning that lifted my spirits, a bit of early 90s happy house - Shanice, I Love Your Smile.

I've just been listening to Chris Evans on 'Listen Again' (thank goodness for internet radio...US radio is pants in comparison) and he's just played 'Bring Me Sunshine', which always makes me smile.

I used to love David Bowie! Did the Shanice song have a really cheesy video with it? Town Called Malice makes me want to jump around too. In fact, I had the Teenage Kicks CD on through the week and it made me want to find a ska club to bounce around like a loon.

Anyone remember Nellie the Elephant by The Toy Dolls?

At the moment it's "They don't care about us" by Michael Jackson - it makes me smile because it reminds me of the street dance class I used to go to and the funky routine we did to it. Well, I say "we", the teacher looked funky but the rest of us were pretty hopeless ?

Still, makes me want to jump up and strut my stuff <dances round the kitchen> and it is great for listening to at the end of a run ?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCqQ2JcQWGs - awful video though!

Elton John - Are you ready for love? Just hearing the intro makes me smile.

Queen - Don't stop me now

James Taylor - How sweet it is

    Amy Winehouse - Valerie

Bit of a random selection but hey-ho.

I like these threads as they always give me ideas for tracks I want on my ipod!

I am loving My Delirium (sp) at the minute as well. Bon Jovi and Europe are great. Was it the Skorpions who sang Wind of Change (or something like that)?

Mr Brightside - The Killers (reminds me of going out on the piss in Clapham)

Anything by Tenacious D makes me laugh. Gym Class Heroes also amuse me.

I usually like a good bit of angry screamy metal when I'm sad so Korn, Slipknot, Stone Sour and Disturbed.

I also secretly like Miley Cyrus and the Ting Tings.
