What would you like for your birthday?

hazel, 12 August, 2009 at 20:29 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 18

I need to get my friend a birthday present. Budget £20-30. I'd rather not get a voucher-based thing. What would you like if it were you?

I got lots of lovely things for my birthday yesterday:

Big jar of black jacks and fruit salads

    perfume

    jewellery

    book on photography

    camera bag

lots of champagne (I was 30!)

    A beautiful orchid

    purple handbag

It was also some friends birthdays recently, and they got White Company handwash and lotion set, flip flips and hair fripparies, jewellery, champagne, a 'quarter of' sweetie hamper.

Its my birthday in 2 weeks. I am getting a Stephen Wiltshire print (they start at $25 http://stephenwiltshire.com/) and I hope that I am getting an armband for my Iphone so I can use it to mapmyrun. Must keep dropping hints to H. Aside from that I want a day off from being Mum and Wife.

Some Mac make-up (specifically some fab, everyday eyeshadow in a neutral shade but with a sheen to it.)

A nice new leater wallet with plenty of places for cards and a zip up bits for coins.

Some nice mugs or wine glasses or a lovely vase.

Some plants or a little sculpture for my garden.

A gawjus pen and a lovely notebook.

A multi-aperture picture frame to hand on my wall. (Like this one but nicer: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/00128409/)

I would like a book - a nice cooking one or the new Robin Hobb <geeky fantasy fan alert>

Or possibly something gardening related for my new window-box grow your own addiction.

Erm, can't think of anything else, sorry.

It's my birthday a week today and i'd love to receive

    perfume

    funky nail varnish

deep pink rose for my garden (daft I know but i've more urgent and pressing things to spend money on than my garden)

jewellery (just been looking at that website KJB suggested and may well invest if my inlaws give me some money as they usually do)

I'd like some Emma Bridgwater cake tins, some books and a manicure and/or pedicure.

I would like you to take me to John Lewis and buy me the fancy yarn I want for the cardigan I have planned. Or some Amy Butler or Cath Kidston fabric for looking at and stroking making into cushions.

I always like getting nice jammies from La Senza as gifts. Books are always welcome. Cath Kidston stuff is too Smiley smile

I would like an IOU (a pretty home made one) for a night at the pictures with sweeties thrown in. or bowling.

I would like, a digital photoframe (not a dead expensive one)

I would like to be taken for afternoon tea.

I would like some books...not sure what, but some lovely easy to read can;t put them down type books.

My birthday? The one coming up next month? Well, I would quite like a trip to New York.... Oh wait - I'm already getting one of those ?

Aside from that I would like a selection of Persephone's finest (though a voucher might be a better bet, as I have a few already).

I also need a neocube, though that's not very grown up.

i would love an Emma Bridgewater Starry Skies something ( a mug, or a teapot, or a cereal bowl)

I am quite keen on the necklaces t hat KJB just posted, and have instructed Mr FtG.

    That's about it I think ?

(oh, and I would like to move to Bristol, but that's probably a bit more than £30....)

Well, i've just ordered the "Live Love Laugh" necklace from Scarlett Jewellery for me (sans necklace though - I'll use my own) and they get extra bonus points for having BRISTOL as a county option for the address...............rather than still having Avon (which disappeared over 10 years ago), or making me choose between the inaccurate Somerset, or South Glos. This might not seem much to you, but I'm sure Hazel understands.

It's my birthday on Sunday and on my Amazon wishlist are a number of books, Wii Sports Active Personal Trainer and accessory pack, Nintendo DSi, some mugs which would complete the dinner service we got for the wedding last year, and quite a lot of CDs. I've also been dropping some hints about a treatment at the Clarins spa.

I already have two of my presents and my birthday isn't until October, they are tickets to see Eddie Izzard and Tim Minchin. I have to arrange babysitting months in advance so my lovely friends have told me already.

Definitely extra points for them. I had an Avon one last night and it made me very cross.

FtG: Persephone is an excellent idea. I wonder if they can deliver in time.
