What's best???

Lauradee, 24 April, 2013 at 18:39 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 3

Getting married sept 2014, I've always been curvy and always trying to loose weight! I'm a size 16 and would love to get down to a 12 for the big day. Thinking about weight watchers or slimming world, any ideas??? I have done weight watchers before but the weighing everything out drive me mad! Any input would be helpful! Thank you! Laura x

    Hi Laura,

Weight Watchers is alot more flexible in the long term than Slimming world, it's not neccessary to weigh out "everything" you'll be eating, both companies promote healthy eating but I've found thaty Slimming world doesn't really encourage portion control (which is why we generally put on weight!) in the same way that Weight Watchers does...................WW's do a very flexible approach to weight loss too which doesn't require weighting/pointing everything you eat but you'd need to go along & find out more about that....it's called Filling & Healthy approach, I lost 4 stone with WW's and have maintained for the past 4 1/2 yrs by using this appraoch to weight loss.....hope that helps ?

    Hi Laura,

I would definitely recommend Weight Watchers. I have always been curvy and am constantly trying to lose weight too. I decided to do a total lifestyle change and whilst I am not totally strict with myself it has worked. I am 38lbs off and only 29lbs to go. I am doing it for charity - I can just never seem to do it for me. I am blogging about it too which I think helps because I am forced to write everything down. (www.lbsforpounds.wordpress.com)

In addition I got some Zaggora products so whether I was wearing them to the gym, to the housework or even just to the office I was burning extra calories. I am now an Ambassador so feel free to use my discount code to get 10% off anything you purchase. I won't lie - I do earn a commission but a minimum 50% of my commission goes to my charity (Help For Heroes) so it is worth it. My code if you did want to use it is ILBS4£S

Good luck and be sure to let us all know what you are doing and how it is working out for you. Oh and have a truly amazing Wedding Day!

    Kindest regards,

    xXx Carrena xXx

I recently watched a documentary on Weight Watchers and although people lose alot of weight, the program is actually not particularly nutritious, therefore damaging in the long term. I don't know, never done it, but its just what I saw in this documentary. Lose weight now but put it back on. IN FACT, now while I write this I sat next to a lady on the train on Friday night on the way home and she was eating a bag of crisps, AND I found out she's on a weight watchers diet. lol. she said she originally did weight watchers and lighter life and lost 2 stone but then in a year she put back 3.5 stone on!!! I have heard this before. not sure if these are really nutritious therefore starving the body therefore going back to bad eating habits in the future putting on weight again. I don't know. Just what I watched and have heard.

I would also recommend Weight Watchers. I few years ago I lost 2 1/2 stones in 5 months. My motivation was needing to be slimmer to wear a bikini on my first real beach holiday with my boyfriend. I didn't actually join Weight Watchers but I found out what my points allowance per day was and learned how to work out points that every food item has based on its calorie, fat and fibre count. In fact, I rarely bought Weight Watchers products. I just used their methods. I weighed food to be sure I wasn't having too much rice, pasta etc. It's rather scary when you see how much a real portion looks like! After a while, I got used to this and knew what the point count of a comlete meal was so I didn't have to weight things or count things any more. I think drinking a lot of green tea helped too.

I became complacent, however, and due to being rather slim by then I thought I could slip back into eating crisps and pastries without it affecting me much! I'm getting married in August 2014 and I'm trying to stick to the correct portion sizes and eating healthier options of food types. I'm not following any diet and, despite losing 16lbs since New Year last year, it's not giving me the results I want in the timeframe I want so I think I will follow Weight Watchers again. Their points counter on their website or app is easy to use for any food item providing you plug in the details from the food labels. It's the only diet that's worked for me.
