We're not having one. We don't like the idea of it being just us dancing with everyone staring at us. We will deffo be dancing though, we have a lovely and cool 50s rock n roll band paying!

There are so many lovely suggestions of first dance songs in this thread. I recently wrote an article online about first dance songs - it has a top 10 first dance songs from 2010 list if you fancy browsing this.

This might sound strange, but the first dance may be your first time alone together as man and wife - 3 minutes without any guests or family chatting to you. A bit of alone time to hold each other, look into each others eyes and realise that you are now married to your soul mate.

I have been at a lot of weddings where the bride and groom just hold each other and slowly move around the dancefloor - you can see that they are not even bothering to dance. They are just really happy and are appreciating the time together...

...and if you are worried about bring in the spotlight for too long, you can always ask your DJ to invite friends and family onto the dancefloor after the first chorus of the song.

We're having "Have I Told You Lately" - the Rod Stewart version (as my OH is a BIG Rod Stewart fan). We were torn between that and another Rod Stewart song called "You're the Star" but we went with "Have I Told You Lately" because everyone knows that one. However, I have asked our band to learn the other one too as a suprise for my OH

I *think* we are having Jennifer Hudson, Giving myself as our first dance but then we are inviting all of our family and friends to join us on the floor for Franki Valli, Cant take my Eyes of you as my OH came to my house at 12 at night when we were 18 and sang this to me with a rose between his bum cheeks and his family were all there (we werent together, we have a long history of chasing each other lol). All of our family and friends know the story so hopefully it will make everyone smile.

We're still undecided (have a while yet!) but are thinking David Gray please forgive me as it means so much to us a couple, hard times and that, BUT it is 5 mins + long so will have to get the DJ to edit, or Dancing in the dark by Bruce Springsteen, but the lyrics may be about prositutes so maybe not !
