When/How and What - Wedding gift lists?

mel&mike, 6 May, 2012 at 13:34 Posted on Planning 0 8

Please share what and how you did it! I think this is a job that nees doing fairly early on as it goes with the invites?

I don't want to do the money poem as personally i've never liked it even though that is what we need!! ?

our photographer has a gift list which allows guests to basically buy our wedding photos which we think is a great idea and it'll save us a fortune! I was thinking about putting a couple of small other gift lists in for people who don't want to do this and want to actually buy a gift, probably amazon and/or not on the high street with a few things would like....is this too many or good to give guests (depends on budgets) a few different alternatives....

Thanks in advance x

We're going to have a honeymoon list, if we didn't we wouldn't be able to afford or justify going abroad, and we don't need anything for the house!

We did the same as this for the same reasons. On all our invites we put a link to our wedding website where we had a page explaining this and a link to our honeymoon contribution page.

    Hi Mel, congratulations!

We are in a similar position to you and have been searching online for the last few weeks for the best site to suit us. We are going to ask our guests to contribute to a leather bound coffee table photo album of our big day (we can't justify buying it ourselves but it would be a fantastic gift!)

There are so many online wedding lists out there but we are going with www.yourweddinggiftlist.co.uk for our wedding list as we can have gifts and contribution items. Not sure if it is what your after but hoping this may save you some time!

    Best of luck

    Emmy! xxxx

Nutella, who are you doing your honeymoon fund through? We would really love to do this but feel nervous about how/if it works and which company to go with.

Hi the future Mrs O! The website we are hoping to use (www.yourweddinggiftlist.co.uk) looks like it does honeymoon funds also.

Any ideas on how you are planning to ask guests for contribution funds? We are asking for contributions to our wedding photo album!

The idea of your photographer is terrific, why don'[t you include the poem on the invitation I'm pretty sure your guests will understand it since most of them probably have an idea on how costly a wedding could be.

I have decided not to bother. Everybody knows we are living together so its highly unlikely people will end up giving us toasters which we dont need. People will more than likely ask us what we want in which case we can just say we would like contributions to the honeymoon or they can surprise us with a gift they picked themselves.

We've got a John Lewis 'voucher only' gift list so we can buy what we want/need for the house in our own time after the wedding. We put a polite non-flowery note in the information sheet that went with the invite saying that we would appreciate JL vouchers if guests wished to buy us a gift.
