Where are you planning to go on honeymoon?

kaz9274, 17 August, 2009 at 20:23 Posted on Planning 0 26

Hi brides-to-be I am at early stages of planning my wedding but cant stop thinking about honeymoon and just cant decide where to go.

I posted a few days ago explaining I wanted to take my 2 young sons BUT maybe just maybe OH will get his way and we will get away together even a few days, I had thought Monaco but maybe a bit too posh for us.

What do you think and where are you going? xx

So Kaz, are you now planning to go without the kids? If you fancy Monaco you should defo go for that, you only do it once (fingers crossed lol!)

We're looking to go the Maldives and stay in those water villas ?

Although I think a week will be long enough so any ideas would be gratefully received for where to go for the second! We're getting married in Sept 2010 so not Carribean - rainy season! x

    How about Nice?

I want to go there (not for HM) I keep hearing lovely things!

We are off on a far flung adventure - we love our city breaks and are going cold turkey on those so we can have a long trip to the other side of the world! Then we are TTC after wedding so might be last chance for a while!

    Hiya..

Monaco is supposed to be amazing and it would be nice to spend some alone time with your OH... On the other hand it would also be nice to spend time with the kids but this might be one of the few times you can be alone??

We're hopefully off to New Zealand for two weeks and then to Bora Bora (the latter is dependent on if we can save lots and lots of money as it's quite expensive!)

My FIL2B and his wife are contributing towards it all so that helps..

There are so many choices but always worth checking weather conditions of the area you're looking at - we're going Sept 2010 - Thailand is rainy season and like the previous poster said the Carribbean won't be fun then either! x

Italy looks beautiful, my friend went to Venice for her HM and the pics were fab. You would prob be best going somewhere in Europe so you a. don't spend too long flying and b. getting over jet lag!

Amethyst where are you off to?

Well, since you ask! Currently looking at 10 nights in the Cook Islands on 2 different islands, a night in Auckland (we have to fly via there anyway - I have been to NZ before, H2B hasn't) then 2 nights in San Fran. Just got a quote through and H2B didn't faint so its looking good ?

That sounds absolutely amazing Amethyst! That's the kind of thing I want to do, something really different and something that you can't really do on a normal holiday Smiley smile

We went to Borneo and Dubai for 17 nights so I'm not going to be much help as it's a long long way to go for 2 days, in fact you wouldn't get there in 2 days ?

I hope you find somewhere that you love.

The honeymoon was far more exciting than the wedding for me. No stressful times in planning the honeymoon since H did it all ?.

We would love to go abroad but we are now thinking of leaving the holiday abroad till the summer so we can take the kids. Plus my mum is abit anixous about looking after the kids if we go abroad incase something happens to them it would be harder for us to come home. So we are planning a few nights in the capital of London. Been there loads of times but haven't really seen much. Thought we would catch a show and do all the tourist stuff. I would love to go to the ice bar.

We really, really want to go on a working ranch holiday to Canada, but I think we'll have to add in a couple of days in a spa hotel too, to relax! I can't wait to start researching it! ?

Oooh I feel out of place with all you hitchers going exotic on me!

We haven't really sorted honeymoon out (well i left it to OH to organize so we'll be lucky to go anywhere). Have no holiday days left after the wedding untill June so may go somewhere in summer or even later than that.

As long as its just the two of us, chilling somewhere with nice food and wine I'll be happy.

You probably know this from my other thread, but my OH and I only really sat down to talk about this last weekend and finally came to something we are both really happy with - 2 weeks in Kenya as well as a safari trip!

We also wanted our honeymoon to be a once-in-a-lifetime type thing, and initially we were looking at the Maldives as I fell in love with those water villas! They do look absolutely stunning and I see that sort of thing as pure paradise. The only thing is that while I am more than happy to laze around by the pool/sea all day, I know my OH would get a bit fidgety and there's not a whole lot to do out there.

So then we looked at Italy - another place I've always wanted to go and haven't been yet. Everything we looked at was absolutely beautiful but we did think we can go there any year really, like maybe for our first anniversary or something. So then OH actually suggested Kenya and we both just agreed on it pretty much straight away - now we are more excited about that than the wedding itself! ?

Haven't booked it yet, but are looking to within the next couple of months just so we can start paying it off ?

Hi we arn't going on a honeymoon as such...we're going to the Lake District for 4 days after the wedding as we couldn't afford to go abroad...we will most probably go away the year after once we've saved up...We'd love to go abroad but theres no point in getting ourselves in debt...as long as we're together thats all that matters.

    xx

We're not having a big honeymoon cos we've spent all our money on the wedding!

We're going to a lovely hotel in Cork, and I'm really looking forward to relaxing and eating and drinking for a few days.

We've been very selfish with our wedding, keeping the number of day guests quite small so that we can have a mega blowout honeymoon - 2 weeks all inclusive in a luxury resort in Mexico - cannot wait! We're getting married on the Friday and going to Manchester for an overnight on the Saturday cos our flight is quite early on the Sunday.

We're going to Bruges for a mini moon just so that we can recover from the wedding and then next year we're going travelling for a month (we've got our gift list with trailfinders, so we're hoping this will help) - Thailand, New Zealand, America

Don't know where we will go, I quite fancy Italy but would also like a few days without baby and then maybe a week with her.

    Such choice.

ps: Monaco is lovely but very overpriced and not really a holiday spot or much to do there, unless you're completely loaded and can just shop all the time.

I've been loving the HM research!!!!

We initially thought about the Maldives as i fell in love with the water villas and it looks like paradise but i have a feeling H2B will get fidegty!!!! We had discounted the Caribbean at first as it's rainy season in July but having looked into in and spoken to some people who have been apparently it is still amazing and you just get the odd short, sharp shower.

So i think we are now going to do a week in St Lucia and a week in Antigua, they are furthest east of the Islands which means they are most unlikely to see any hurricane action. I think you maybe get more for your money than in the Maldives and there is more to do on the Islands so that should keep H2B happy.

    Sooooooooooooo excited!!!!

We are having 2 nights in the Lake District straight after the wedding and then going on a proper HM the summer after. OH has a really bad fear of flying so it looks like we'll be a-cruising! Actually I love cruises, very pampered and get to see loads of places. OH has decided we are going to have the most expensive suite with massive balcony....I said that could prove exceptionally expensive .....but he has put his foot down in a very masculine way, so I can't stop him!!!We want to do a med cruise but make sure we go to Eygpt to see the pyramids and the thing I want to do most.............ride a camel!!!

We also orginally thought of the Maldives but were worried that H2B might get bored. Plus I'm terrified of flying so the long flight was seriously putting me off that idea!

H2B is part Italian and just completely loves the country, people, food etc. Our first holiday abroad was to Italy so it seemed fitting that we return. So we have decided to go to Ischia. We have found a stunning 5 star hotel which looks totally idyllic! Spent a small fortune on it though, would have been cheaper to go to the Maldives, lol. Italy is certainly not the cheap option! ?
