Who is the remotest Hitcher?

ForTheLoveOfMrsBrown, 20 January, 2014 at 13:50 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 82

How far away (walking/driving) is your nearest....

Post Office? Seven minute walk

McDonalds? Twenty minute drive

Ikea? Thirty minute drive

Train station where you can get a direct train to London? Seven minute walk/35 minute train - or - 25 minute drive

I suspect I will be closer to an Ikea and further from a McDonalds than many Hitchers.

Post office - 5 minute drive

McDonalds - 2 minute walk (there's at tiny one in Asda)

    Ikea - 5 minute drive

Train Station with direct train to London - 15 minute drive

Conclusion - not remote in the slightest

    Post Office? 15-20 minute walk

    McDonalds? Twenty minute drive

Ikea? Hour & a half drive

Train station where you can get a direct train to London? Could be a 10 minute drive but then changes on the train. Or 45 minute drive to get to a station that goes direct

PO- 30 minute walk or 5/10 minute drive

McDonalds- Not walkable, 15 min drive

    Ikea-1 1/2 hour drive

Train to London- 30 minute drive

There is nothing in my village so everything is a car journey away, but so long as you have a car everything is reasonably accessible.

    Post Office? Fifteen minute walk

    McDonalds? 5 minute drive

Ikea? About an hour (in no traffic, realistically about an hour fifteen/an hour thirty)

Train station where you can get a direct train to London? Half hour walk/10 min car journey, although rarely use this as the travel to London is over an hour. Drive 25 mins to Chelmsford, train is 30 mins.

Post office - 2 minute walk (but it is only the type within a newsagents, for posting things, not the depot where you can pick up parcels - that's a 15/20 min walk)

McDonalds - absolutely no idea. OK have looked it up for you, about a 30 min walk.

    Ikea - 20 min drive I think

Train station - well technically in London already, the local station is 10 min walk: then the train takes 9 mins to Clapham Junction / 18 mins into Victoria / 27 mins to London Bridge. Can also walk 15 mins to another station with similar trains (but they do not go to Clapham Junction; they have a service to Wimbledon instead). Or it's a 30 min walk / 15 min bus ride to the nearest Tube station. Nearest bus stop is literally outside the front of our flat.

Post Office - 5 minute walk

McDonalds - 25 min drive and then 10 min walk from the car park

Ikea - bloody Croydon. About 2 hours on a good day (involves the M25) I miss Ikea

Train station - 12 minute walk there, 15 back (it's uphill and I'm tired by then)

    Ikea - 15 min drive

Train Station with direct train to London - 12 minute walk ( and the train is only 30-40 mins to London Bridge/Charing Cross)

Quite lucky really. We can also be in the country side within a 20min drive and by the sea in less than an hour.

Post Office - 4 minute drive, about 15 minutes walk

McDonalds - 8 minute drive in no traffic (you couldnt walk it as you have to cross the M1)

    Ikea - 15 minute drive

Train Station where you can get a direct train to London - 12 minutes drive and then the fast is direct in to Euston in 30 minutes

I am in MK (well technically Newport Pagnell) so I am pretty well situated for most things and can get to the seaside in about 1 1/2 hours if you go to Southend !
