Who is this idiot on Radio 1?

Doughnut, 12 July, 2009 at 08:46 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 29

He was on yesterday morning too. I think I may have to give up and move to Radio 2 with the other over 30s ?

    Ha ha - I just went on the R1 website to see if I could find somewhere to register my complaint!

    He irritated the bejesus out of me last week too (maybe he'll be a grower?)! Half hour and he'll be gone!

    I can't stand that other idiot Mockey ex-public schoolboy they have on either. I'm listening to Steve Wright's love songs now ? Much better!

    <wistful old man sigh>

    I think it's sad that we're seeing the last generation of DJs at Radio 1 who actually learnt their craft on radio.

    Is it Dev or someone? Terrible. R2 is atrocious though, it is all making me consider commercial radio <shudder>

    I'm not that keen on it - there was a good song when I turned over but that was it. I think I'll put a CD on.

    I heard Dev with Scott Mills and Nihal a couple of weeks back and he was pretty funny, I'm going to give him a few weeks to see if he settles into weekend breakfast. They should put Coxy on or bring back Chappers and Dave, they can live without a day off ?

    I know people find her irritating but I love Sara Cox; I think she's hilarious. I can't stand Zoe Ball though.

    I like Coxy too.

    The problem with R2 is that within 10 minutes of turning it on I will be subjected to either Abba, or Queen, or something Motown and it will make my ears bleed

    I'm with you Lois.

    Having reached ye grande olde age of 29 I suspect I'm now outwith the target demographic of Radio 1 (who all seem to be revising for school just now, if the people who phone in are anything to go by). I find the majority of R1 DJs extremely irritating, and often have to turn over to (shudder) local Tinpot Radio Station to lower my blood pressure. I can't cope with the weird mix that happens on R2. ('that was Nickleback with 'how you remind me'. Coming up next, The Drifters')

    Radio 1 DJ list:

    Coxy= fun sweet, entertaining.

    Chappers & Dave= funny, occasionally irritating, but mostly entertaining.

    Moyles= not funny, hopeless radio presenter. Says 'Ehm' more times a sentence than any eloquent human should. Never knows what bloody time it is and is perpetually late for the news. And I hate his gaggle of hangers-on he fills the studio with to try and raise a laugh.

    ALL the Mockeys= seriously, my tone deaf ears cannot tell them apart. I don't find them entertaining and I'm getting seriously irritated that all they seem to do is play the same 5 songs then promote other DJs' shows.

    Jo Whiley= This haggard old bint and her self-congratulatory 'aren't I groovy' chat should have been evicted to Radio 2/3/Regional years ago, ideally when Mark and Lard went.

    Aaaaaaand breeeeeeathe........

    I've always loved my radio. Is it too much to ask for some funny DJs who play the hits of today and tell me what time it is every half hour or so? ?

    Are you me? I could have written that post word for word! Jo Whiley I hate more than words can say, I can't even hear her voice without getting the rage.

    I listen to Absolute radio a lot now, a good mix of music and very little chat. i've decided its the only way for me I find the DJ's irritate me far too much.

    Well the obvious answer is Radio 4. Or Radio 7.

    I was about to say, well Radio 4 is the answer. You're rarely troubled by a regional accent, and almost never by a load of the kind of jingly-jangly, beep-beep nonsense that passes for music these days.

    <harrrrumph>

    Marvellous.

    Make mine a sweet sherry.

    I love music; I want to listen to music on the radio, minus the idiots. I don't mind regional accents (it would be a bit rich coming from me if I did ?)

    Isn't Radio 4 talking, plays and the Archers?

    I have found Kiss on the telly, which I do like.

    I listen to Radio 4 of an evening, when R1 becomes compeltely unlistenable to me. I don;t mind the daytime djs, although very much miss Mark and Lard.

    Radio 4 is fabulous for comedy, proper news, and Front Row. Don't listen to the archers though, it is v short so sucks you in without you noticing.

    You can't get a good sing along going to R4 though. Although they did have that Kurt Cobain documentary the other week with lots of music.

    Glad to see that I am not the only one who gets annoyed by R1. I had come to the conclusion that as I am late 20's I am not the audience that they want and find myself playing cd's in my car far more than I used to.

    Moyles can be tolerable depending on what mood I am in but when he starts ranting or going on and one about something like Dom making a tiny mistake in the news I just want to shoot him

    Jo Whiley, Edith, Coxy, Dev, Nihal just annoy me too much to listen to them

    Scott Mills and Zane Lowe are ok most of the time.

    i went off radio one about five years ago, it used to be constantly on in the office i worked in.

    radio two isn't bad, but bruce, vine and wright annoy me. so that's most of the day then. ?

    may give radio four a whirl again. i used to like it as a student

    I listen mostly to Radio 1 but have to agree that Moyles is childish, crude and relies on all his hangers on. I cant stand Nihal or Jo Whiley. I really like Coxy, Edith and Scott Mills - apart from that 'Its only bloody Friday' thing he does. WTF?

    If I want a sing-a-long in my kitchen I listen to Heat radio, its fab and you get celeb gossip every 30 mins!

    Someone I follow on Twitter described listening to R4 as 'a bit like being dead' the other day. ? I have tried listening to it but it just makes me feel old and tired. R1 is dreadful too, I hate the repetitive playlist, the moronic djs and most of all the bloody phone-ins.

    Kiss and XFM are the only stations I can tolerate.

    Have to be in the right mood for Moyles. Having listened to him since his Chiltern Radio days I'm becoming a bit tired of him. Radcliffe and Maconie on Radio 2 are excellent but that's only late evenings. Most of my listening is now Radio 6. Adam and Joe on a Saturday morning are the best thing on any radio station.

    Oh god, really? I occasionally get woken up by it when H has been listening in the evening, and it's invariably inane and infuritating. I was shattered this morning but they seemed to be spending ages chatting about the most inappropriate time you've ever sworn. I could literally feel my brain matter dying.

    The evenings aren't much better are they? Shouty football fans shouting about things at each other...

    And <shudder> Richard Bacon.

    Or am I just imagining all those things? ?

    You need the book at bedtime. And the shipping forecast.

    I love the book at bedtime. Many books I've ended up reading have been book at bedtime books. Or book of the week.
