Would you believe it!

(Claire), 11 April, 2013 at 10:15 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 20

So as most of you know I am going to London tomorrow for an action packed weekend with the in-laws, I’ve woke up this morning with a sore throat, a temperature and I just feel icky, I’ve come to work loaded with honey and fresh lemons, I cannot be ill and I refuse to let this beat me! Please can I have some stay healthy vibes and any tips on warding off this darn cold. TIA

Although vitamin C doesn't stop you getting colds, the jury is still out on whether it can reduce the severity/duration of a cold. It might be worth a shot.

Can you take the standard array of pharmaceuticals (paracetamol/ephedrine/etc)? To be honest, I'd just blast myself with that all day.

I alternate paracetamol and ibruprofen every two hours. Two tablets each time. Tends to work.

I've never tried Night Nurse, I could do with a good nights sleep but I'm worried I'll feel groggy in the morning.

I wish I could just go home and completely relax tonight, but I've got a fair bit on and probably won't settle down until gone 9! It's typical!

This is what I'm thinking Ash, I've got that much to do tonight and then I won't stop from tomorrow morning until we get back Sunday night, which is when I expect it to unload on me. Ah well hopefully with all these remedies and meds it won't be as bad. Hope you feel better soon too.

Honey, lemon, hot water and whisky always works for me. I don't know if it's particularly medicinal but who cares! ?

Night Nurse works miracles. Don't get the tablets, get the proper green liquid (not available in supermarkets, only sold behind the counter in chemists), dose yourself up with the full adult dose (20ml) and go straight to bed, try for an early night too.

Thanks Guys, Hubby has just called me and told me he's got the Night Nurse syrup so I'll do what I have to do tonight jobs wise, and try and get an early night.
