Are there alternatives to fake tan?

misskd, 20 November, 2008 at 07:56 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hi Iam getting married in 9 days and I don't want to have a fake tan (including the moisturising ones) as I have really sensitive skin. I have had sun beds before but they don't seem to do anything for me. I was wondering if there is an alternative?

I have tried the bronze balls but can't see anything on my skin! They are no 7 ones, should I try a different make?

I have also tried tinted moisturiser but could only find one for the face, does anyone know of a tinted body moisturiser but not the ones that give a gradual tan as I have reacted to a lot of them in the past.

Thanks xx

I think I will have to be pale and proud!!

Spray tan is still fake tan so not an option.

I was wondering if there was something that just gave you a shimmer?

Not sure if it's ok for sensitive skin though.

I'd be inclined to be pale too I think!

I am very pale! i have done the whole fake tan thing and it just doesnt work! goes patchy and tinted orange...not a good look! so i have decided (even though i am not getting married for another year) that am going to embrace my pastiness! hehe

i aggee with the comment about december tans! I saw some young girls out shopping a few days ago and they were celarly fake tanned or sunbed addicts and i thought they looked so silly! poor things! i just realised i sound about 60! ooopps I am only 24 hahaha

I wouldn't bother with the tan TBH.

I did St Tropez a week before the wedding.....my mum had a new camera and took a couple of snaps.......when I saw me in them it dawned on me that I was in danger of making the BIG mistake........my face looked pale against my shoulders! so I scrubbed it off in the lead up to the wedding.

Nothing worse than white face and brown shoulders as I am sure at this stage you have picked yr foundation.

Champneys do a lovely shimmery body oil which you can buy online or at larger Sainsbury's.

Ladies,, embrace your English rose complexions, the fake tan really does not do well in photographs.

It's no matter what brand, they still give an orange tint to the skin, it's exaggerated in photos, as Nutsy pointed out. Some photographers can work on the final images for the album to correct some of that oranginess, but many won't without charging extra for that type of touchup work, because it IS very time consuming. Not to mention, it's doubtful that photographs taken by your guests will be touched up to lessen the orange tone, particularly in the tungsten type of light that most venue's have for receptions.

Add to that the fact that if others in the photographs posed with you have not fake tanned, (such as your new husband) it draws even more attention to the oranginess. Please consider that these should be timeless images, that you will show your children, and their children. The fake tan thing is a phase, and a fashion trend. Invest instead into having a fabulous make up artist, and let your love for your hubby create a lovely natural glow.

this gives a slight hint of shimmer and feels absolutely amazing on your skin! I'm tempted to try out some of the other products mentioned on this thread too though!
