Those of you that have done/are doing/are thinking of doing bathroom goody baskets, what are you putting in them? And what type of container are you going to use?
Hi there, With a village all reception with clean but far form luxurious bathrooms we're going to do this.
In ours, if I remember correctly (it's on a list at home) : nice handwash, moisteriser, disposable toothbrushes, toothpaste (yes really! We're having a curry buffet so thought these would be a nice idea, and value toothbrushes are something like 29p for 2!), deoderant spray, nice tissues, wet wipes, wrapped mints/sweets (again, for curry-breath reaosns!), and we'll be providing a nice fluffy hand towel. All this we're putting in a wicker basket, wrapped in the same ribbon which we're wrapping round our centre pieces, which we'll buy from Ikea, or Dunelm, or wherever else has an offer on between now and September!! We reckon this will be a cheap, easy, but thoughtful ?
I like the above ideas. You can even pick up baskets at charity shops, lay a handtowel inside then put the goodies on top. No none will really notie what container the googies are in. A few other things, but obvioulsy depending on budget & your guests:
Yep, date set for 15th September - Reg office and village ahll in next village (don't want to give too many details on here!). All going fine, but we're keeping it much more low-key than we thought we would. Food, booze, band....and that's pretty much it. It's quite nice to have the mind-set that it's all relaxed and going ot be fine (I'm prone to being control-freakish so this is great!).
Actually, I don't suppose you know of any decent hairdressers for the day? I know you're a distance from me but worth a try. My local salon does salon or home wedding hair but whilst they're fine at cutting I'd prefer a recommendation for wedding as it's a completely different skill set (I pressume).
How are your plans coming on? Are you getting excited?!
White's Hair and Beauty in Glenfield are meant to be very good. I've used them once myself for colour/cut but not for having a 'do'. They've got a new place too, I think it's in Ratby.
I'm getting there slowly. January and February have been mad thanks to my OH's 30th and our eldest's 6th birthdays (queue lots of suprise party organising for me to do!) so I'm hoping I can focus on the wedding now for a while. It's only 5 months next Tuesday! ?
I love the idea of doing one of these too, just please be careful about putting tablets/painkillers in them if you have got children attending your weddings.
Am I the only one who doesn't get this idea?? I know my opinion wasn't asked for, so hope I don't offend, but I am really struggling to see why you would do this. It just seems so OTT? I'm just interested to know if I'm on my own on this one?!
Sorry HLT but I am planning on doing this as I totally love the idea! I think it´s a really nice touch for female guests as, when you´re at a wedding all day. there´s is invariably something you´ll need but won´t have with you (unless you have a Mary Poppins style bag ?).
Plus I´ve never seen it done at any weddings I´ve been to, so am actually quite excited about doing it for my girls.
I might do this but not sure yet depends on the loos...I committed the ultimate sin and have booked a venue I visited but didn't use the loos in!!
It's the kind of stuff I think I might need being the bride so it's nice to have it there for the rest of the ladies too. I'd probably add some tampons and pant liners (cannot tell you the amount of times I've gone out thinking I have some and then find I don't...which ended up in a rather disastrous event trying to hide a large box of applicator tampons in my clutch bag at a christmas dinner that cost a fortune from the hotel shop and then ending up leaving the rest in the loo cause there was no way I could carry them around!) some of those face powder papers to blot the grease(!). Could end up being a BIG box! I won't have a lady selling lollies and charging for hand towels ?
This is such a lovely idea, I always end up trying to cram everything I need into a tiny bag! Im terrible for buying glossy mags and I never use the free samples that you get so maybe you could save some of these? x
I'm KINDA with you HLT. It's not that I don't think it's a nice touch but my first thought when I read this thread was "Does the spending and organisation EVER stop?!!" It's in the same class as flipflop baskets and presents for the hen party goers. I ran it past a couple of friends who'd never heard of it either and they looked at me like I had two heads and asked "WHY?" I think it's a case of horses for courses but I suspect that a few things would get used but the majority not. I'm going to ask a friend who did this at her own wedding and see what she had left over. Not against it at all but not totally convinced either.
