Black Cab to wedding??

Janey4, 29 of October of 2012 at 11:37 Posted on Planning 0 35

Has anyone got a black cab to their wedding!?

I’m not that fussed about cars and it seems like a good way of shaving a few £££’s off the budget, especially as we are having the ceremony and reception in one place.

I didn't have cars at all as we had everything in one place but I also got ready there. If I'd needed one I would have just hired an executive taxi though so I think a black cab is a great idea.

I couldn't bring myself to shell out £500 on a car I was going to use for 10 minutes.

Same or better yet if someone in the family has a nice posh car, ask them to drive you! make them part of the day!

I'm asking my bridesmaid's neighbour if he'll take us in his cab - we'll pay his petrol and give him a bit of money as a thank you.

Go for it... we never hired cars, I walked to church (thank you lovely weather) and then we had hired a Mercedes to take to us to the reception and used our audi for the bridesmaids and ushers. Saved a fortune....

My very kind uncle has arranged a Merc for me and OH. I want my mum and BM's to arrive at the same time as me so I looked into Black Cabs. I found a silver one that actually offers a wedding service. Basically cleaned with coloured ribbon. It's costing £85 for a 45 minute journey. I think they look great.

I got a black cab to my wedding, just ordered one in advance from the hotel and it cost the normal fare - the driver was lovely too and waited outside the venue while I had a couple of pictures taken!

I'm just getting a taxi, then drive with OH in our car to the reception. I love the idea of driving around like normal in a wedding dress, lol

    This!

We have everything at the same place too as i didnt want to spend £100's getting a car to the venue. Personally i think its a waste so a Black Cab is a good compromise.

Everyone will be in the village hall when I arrive and I'll probably be the last on the dance floor so cars are a complete waste of money. One black cab for my son and I, one for the BM's. Job's a good 'un!

I think some taxi firms will ensure the cab is clean if you book it in advance, I know my sister in law booked a black cab a week before so they cleaned it and even stuck a white ribbon on it for her, plus you dont want bits of last nights kebab on the hem of your dress do you ?

I went for a white wedding cab with ribbons etc. like a lot here didn't feel the need tp spend hundreds on a vintage car that nobody would really see as I got married all at one venue!

I think a black cab is a great idea, our church is only a 10min drive from our (potential) venue, we're hoping to ask our neighbour, who has a vintage car to drive me to the church, then drive us to the reception. But i was thinking of hiring a couple of black cabs to take the rest of the wedding party.

Go fot it, i think it will look great in pics x

I think I am going to go down the luxury taxi route.

My ceremony and reception is in one place so noone will really see me turn up.

I am trying to cut costs as much as possible so that I can spend it in other places. I can't justify spending £4oo+ on a car which noone will see.

I think a shiny black cab will be brilliant, especially as there will be plenty of room for your dress!

I think that a cab is a great idea. I see from time to time a car which is purpose built for weddings - in that it has a wide door for getting in and out with a big dress (just like a cab) it has a large seating area with leg space - plenty of room for that dress (just like a cab) it has a tight turning circle so it can get into the perfect position for a great photo (just like a cab can). So many times I have seen brides squeezing in or out of a car -squashing and creasing the dress even before the wedding, then the car unable to get in the perfect position for a shot, So I think a cab is a perfect wedding car.
