Pix-e, 12 January, 2014 at 07:55 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hi all, I am close to tears now with getting dresses for my 2 bridesmaids Smiley sad we found the perfect dress but it is double the budget set for each dress Smiley sad we can't change our budget and after spending months looking in shops and online I am at my end now. Smiley sad does anyone have any handy tips on where we can try or solutions.....please!!!! I had been previously warned off buying them online on the "tailor made" sites, but are they really that bad? Anyone bought from one and found it perfect?? Any tips or advice would be great thank you...I have 4 and half months till wedding so starting to panic now!! Thank you xx

Hello, what style and colour were the dresses that you loved? Have you looked for secondhand dresses rather than new and have you approached a seamstress to see if they can make the dress? Flash the dress and I'm sure someone can come up with a solution.

Can the bridesmaids help to contribute towards the dresses at all? Is there anywhere you can take money from within your budget?

    Hi Pix-e,

Do you have an idea of what dresses you would like and the budget in mind (if you don't mind saying)?

Perhaps people may then have some ideas of where these can be found Smiley smile

The budget is £100 per dress. I am looking for one like mori lee style 31032...I couldn't paste the pic sorry. The colour scheme is like a bright turquoise blue but not quite turquoise. One of my bridesmaids said she could help with the cost but the other can't so I wouldn't feel right having just one pay some and not the other. Smiley sad I need 2 dresses.... I wasn't sure if seamstress options would be too expensive... Also the blue is not really in the high streets at the moment so can't go to debenhams or somewhere like that...

I have just brought these turquoise dresses for my bridesmaids in the sales:

    http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_008010117641_-1

Also, if it is the mori lee dresses you are after, there is a supplier called Bridal Expressions and although they are shipping from America they are very good and reasonable. I ordered my mori lee wedding dress from here as they are listed suppliers. The dress arrived within 3 weeks and is the same quality as in the shop.

I hope this helps Smiley smile

    Hi,

I had ordered 5x bridesmaid dresses which were all Mori-Lee from a bridal shop costing around £220 per dress, I came home and done some research and found the exact same dress online for £98 per dress. I ordered one as a sample and the dress was slightly different coloured but still as gorgeous. I have ordered the other 4 now all slightly bigger than they need and am paying for alterations which are a £20 per dress. I have still managed to save myself £500 so wouldn't discount the tailor made websites. The sizes seem to come up slightly smaller than normal sizing, that would be my only bit of advice.

    Hope u get something.

Hi abi, thanks for the tips! The dress from America did you find the sizing was okay and true to measurements you gave? Xx

Yes, the dress is exactly the same measurements as the size chart they provide. Mine is a little too big but I knew that it would be when I ordered as I would rather take it in than have to worry about losing the weight.

On the website there is a 'chat' function which I used along with emails just to confirm the order etc. They were extremely helpful and checked stock, estimated delivery times etc. instantly.

The only thing I will say is that I was charged import tax on my dress. This was only around £70 on top of the £695 dress and still meant it was cheaper than in the UK. I think they can estimate this for you too Smiley smile

where abouts r u? If your near Croydon I went to a shop there, loads of lovely dresses and they can make them in pretty much any colour and you can have them custom made. If not you can order online www.sexyher.co.uk I got mine from there and I love them!
