Bridesmaids and moh

Hayley, 3 February, 2022 at 15:07 Posted on Planning 0 12
Is you MOH wearing the same as your bridesmaids
I wanted it different but I've been told that makes life harder for not only me but them. And also confusing for the guests

I was going to have them where the same colour but my MOH with a longer skirt part as that's what she prefers.
Should I have them all in the same dress or can it be different for my MOH

    Hi Hayley,

Yes it can be different. I think your suggestion of the same colour but MOH with a longer skirt is a great idea.

The way it will make your life harder is if you haven't found the dress yet, but it sounds like you have? The first time they will see your MOH will be when they come down the aisle so this will solidify the fact they are part of the bridal party and help people to know she has a different dress for a specific reason (i.e. because she is MOH).

I've had couples in the past who have decided to let all their bridesmaids pick their own dress as long as it is a different colour and no one blinked an eyelid.

If she feels more comfortable in it, and you prefer it, then go for it.

    With love,

    Laura x

My MOH is a guy, so he'll be in a suit of the same colour as the bridesmaids dresses! I think all you need is a unifying feature - could be colour, could be style, could be an accessory or hairdo Smiley smile

Thank you, I have found the dresses on heboes but as 1 of my bridesmaids and my MOH are trying to lose weight (not that they need to) I'm not ordering yet I dont want them to be too big for them.

Thanks for that I just want them to all be comfortable I might even end up with a bridesmaid in a suit 🤣 as one of my bridesmaids dont wear dresses.
But it's bad enough I'm making them wear green I want them to feel comfortable.

I love that... I guessing your saying MOH as man of honour for your big day which I love so much I was going to have a guy friend as a MOH and he agreed to wear a dress but I didnt think that was a good way for him to come out as trans as it's on front of alot of people he doesnt know.

But hes still a bridesmaid in a suit and my bestfriend has agreed to take over as MOH

Mine are similar to what you’ve suggested. MOH is in a longer dress and 2x BMs are in knee length. They’re all in the same colour. I was happy for all three to be in different dresses, but the two BMs really like the same dress so they actually match which is fine too! The main thing I wanted was my ladies to be happy in their dresses! My two nieces (10 and 7) will be flower girls, and their dresses will be the same colour - haven’t decided if they will be in matching or different dresses to each other yet, I’ll let them decide!

We're actually calling him "Maid" still! He's openly gay and has been since school, and although he uses he/him pronouns he preferred to not masculine-up the role by changing it to "Man" - we debated "Mate" but he just preferred the idea of keeping the traditional title so I've gone with that as it's what he's more comfortable with Smiley smile

The groom, best man and ushers will all be in linen suits - with the best man and ushers wearing ties to match the bridesmaids dresses (which will be some shade of blue/turquoise/mint - I'm undecided!) and the way we'll show that MOH is on Team Bride rather than being mistaken for an usher is that his waistcoat at minimum will also be bridesmaid colour (full suit if we can find it!). Groom will match in with the ushers suits but will have a stand out tie and button hole that matches more in with me - so MOH equally won't be mistaken as groom! Smiley smile
