Can i organise a wedding in 8 months?

Stephanie, 24 July, 2022 at 18:11 Posted on Planning 0 8
We got engaged in April and were hoping to getting married in April 2023, but finding the right venue has taken longer than I thought! We think we have the right venue now but it isn't local to us so we would plan the wedding largely remotely. How straight forward will it be planning from a distance, and is it possible to organise it in 8 months? We only have a guest list of about 60 people.

Thanks!

Totally fine, just get your vendors booked in as soon as you can.

There is generally a lot of activity at the start and then a long lull til you start doing things 3/4 months before. You’ll just have less of the waiting around doing nothing period.

You can do it! We’d got 6 months, we started planning in April and we get married in October. We had to be flexible with the date and timings but haven’t really had any other problems. Our venue isn’t local (about 1hr45mins drive) and we’ve made two trips to the area so far, for the viewing and for food tasting. Most liaising with suppliers has been via email and Zoom calls. I was able to book the caterers and photographers we wanted, and find/order a dress without any issues. The registrar availability was limited though so we didn’t have much choice of ceremony time. We also knew that it would be quite short notice for guests so we sent Save the Dates out as soon as we’d confirmed the date and registrar. Good luck with planning!

Totally possible. We got engaged at the end of October, planned to marry at the end of June and had all the planning done by the end of February.

And I know someone who planned their wedding in 3 months to fit in with the groom's having to go abroad for work.

I think it should be fine. We booked our wedding back in May and I managed to book everything within about 4 week. Our wedding is august 2023, but I wanted to book in advance to ensure that we could get the suppliers we wanted.

Just make sure that you start looking at suppliers straight away. I know that hair/make-up, florists and bands getting booked pretty quickly.
Also start looking for your dress soon, as if you leave it too close to the date most bridal shops will add a surcharge.
    xx
