Cant pick venue are we too fussy or not found the one?

Winston, 23 of June of 2021 at 20:37 Posted on Planning 0 9
Hi we are struggling to settle on a venue. We have been to about 10 of them and still cant pick one. It has taken ages because of covid and getting days when we are both of work.

None of them feel like the one but they each have their own good points and bad points whether that be a room one of us or we dont like or price or distance. They all feel like a 2nd best and if we do somehow pick one we will feel bad or guilty because we know any of the other ones does something else better. Are we being too picky or should one venue just hit us as the one? I cant even see how we are logically going to pick one should we continue looking?

I think you should continue looking, you will know when it’s the one. Hope you find your dream venue soon , maybe you need to go further afield.

You will know when you've found the one. Keep looking, you don't want to look back and regret choosing second best x

Our venue didn’t feel like ‘the one’ when we first saw it (it was the first one we visited) but we found as we were going around others we were comparing everything to it. As soon as we
Went back a 2nd time we knew it was what we wanted and booked.

I would say keep looking unless your keep coming back to a certain one and then maybe do a 2nd visit

Thank you we will keep looking but they are venues borderline as far as we would like to go. Im just worried we wont find the one if these turn up nothing.

I think keep looking for now but maybe draw a small list of the top two or three things you're not willing to compromise on as that can help make up your mind! For us it was:

-Nice area for an outdoor ceremony with an indoor option we would be genuinely happy with if weather is bad

-Bar in the same room as dancefloor (been to too many weddings where a separate bar means empty dancefloor!)

-Ideally a venue and team who will take care of most things and not too much DIY for us

That massively helped us narrow down our venue choices where we got a bit torn and also accept some level of compromise if necessary, so maybe doing that will help you too!

You'll know when you find it.
That said, have you asked any of the venues for pictures of the spaces set up for a wedding? It might help you visualise and find out if any of the ones you've seen could be the one.

Hi yes most of the ones we have been to have been set out for a wedding and there are pictures on the website. Ideally we would like an outdoor wedding with a nice woodland type view rather than beach and a nice indoor area for food and ceremony if weather is bad. Ideally it would be private just 1 wedding a day and include a bridal suite for the night but we would be happy to pay to stay somewhere if venue is not a hotel.

One of our favourites at the minute has the nicest indoor rooms of them all but its beside the beach and doesnt do outdoor weddings and is a tad overpriced. The other favourite venue we consider is the only one that does outdoors ceremony with nice woodland views but its a hotel with more than 1 wedding a day the indoor room is just alright and we have heard mixed reviews about it but its a good price.

Keep looking until you find one that suits. But do bear in mind the "perfect thing" may not be out there. It may help to make a list of "must haves" and "would love's" and if any tick all the must have boxes then revisit with different eyes. Venues look so different once they are decorated.
