Christmas Crackers

Flowmojo, 22 November, 2011 at 10:31 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 26

Do you buy decent ones? or just the regular pack with cruddy items in? Mum always buys special ones for christmas day that seem to cost a fortune!! For our christmas with friends im eyeing up either fo these....

Hotel Chocolate crackers a mere snip at £5 EACH ?

or these, a mere £7 from tescos...

which come with little wind up sprouts to race..which i imagine after a few festive sherries woudl be quite amusing!

    Hi Flow

I must admit I normally spend a fortune on a box of decent crackers! those hotel chocolat ones look lovely but I dont think i could stretch to £55 this year on 11 crackers lol!

haven't seen any about as yet - but normally get M&S or John Lewis

Love the Sprout ones though they look fun!

I do like the luxury ones but for the kids I like the silly ones. I think we might need those racing sprout ones!

The year before last we got a giant cracker for the kids (seriously it was about a metre long) and had loads of fun with it!

Those sprout ones look fab! I shall add them to my shopping list.

I usually just buy cheap ones, or my mum gives me some that she has won from Bingo ?

Get the sprout ones, they'll be really funny after a sherry or two ?

I normally buy mine in the January sales and stick them in the Christmas box until next year, that way I'll spend less but get better cracker, not that anyone's bothered really!

Mum normally gets quite nice ones in the january sales!

during christmas dinner she opens up a kind of black market swapsies and really gets carried away with swapping thie pressies in order to get a good one. you can always count on them all being left on the table at the end though!

there will only be 3 of us this year so i have been eyeing up the ones which are games or quizes. think the sprouts one is genius!

I may invest in the HC ones as it's only me and MrLM for our "xmas dinner" this year (which will be in February ?).

That said, Debenhams had half priced their luxury crackers the other day, and I was tempted by those too. £10 for 6 isn't bad going!

I've not done it since I left home but used to make ours (you can get kits if you don't want to go down the ever-so-kitch "inside of a loo roll wrapped in crepe paper" route) that way you can put really nice stuff in (home made truffles or nice smellies always go down well) without paying eye watering prices.

We got their luxery ones 12 for £10 (half price at the weeknd) We (I say we - I mean my side of the family - when we spend christmas with OH's side I have no idea what they do!) have more expensive ones at lunch and silly/cheep ones in the evening or for boxing day. The sprout ones look great! We had wind up father christmas and snowman ones once and spent ages having silly races.

As much as I like the expensive ones I think they can be a total rip off, after all most of it goes in the bin. One year I bought a 'make your own' pack which were a hit as I could choose the goodies myself (they came with the joke, hat and banger). I might have a look and see if I can get those again actually.

I do think the Sprout ones look fun though!

I buy cheapo ones, as C is addicted to them, and goes through over 10 boxes of crackers over christmas. He also has a giant cracker every year.

No one in my family gives a hoot what's in their cracker, so I don't bother buying decent ones. I'd love really nice crackers, but there's no point.

I have Hello Kitty ones for myself this year.

I went to get the Hotel Chocolat ones - inside is a selection of 3 truffles - me being me, probably won't like said truffle, so I put them back and the hunt for the perfect cracker continues!
