What flowers are you having? Or what's your colour scheme?

I do love them simple though

    how about candles instead?

or hanging a silver bucket,jar/tin filled with flowers - gypsophilia always works well like this and you can add in accent flowers to tie your colour theme in

So you could have the tins with Gypsophilia with a few red roses in there too. Or clear jars tied with red and ivory ribbon with alternating red and ivory candles?

I had originally thought I would just have big organza bows done on our pew ends, I think it can look really effective - I don't think I have any pictures though!

We ended up going for flowers, though you might think ours were ott here's a pic:

they were spaced out down the church rather than on each pew end - it never occurred to me to have something tall until I went to see my florist and I fell for the idea in some of her sample pictures! Lots of people commented on them as there were at eye level rather than down on the pews, I have seen examples where the same thing was done with roses, though it's maybe not your cup of tea at all!

The flowers from ours where then removed and taken to the reception venue and placed in tall vases as our centre pieces (can't find the picture of them on the table right now though)

    Hiya,

Sorry to crash this post, but as we're on the subject........

Is it possible to have pew ends that can be reused as the table centres at the reception? I have heard about this but not sure how they would look? Do you have any examples?

These we just used Florist Pull Bows £6 for 30 Bows if you are on a budget:

    Hi ya

The idea with the silver tubs in my post above is a possibility, you could easily reuse those for centrepieces. I've used these style centrepieces before for a country fete theme, you could easily punch a hole into each side of the tin for the ribbon or just loop the ribbon under the rim to hold it. There's a picture on this page and also in the gallery.

We had pew ends, but only on the top 4 rows i think nearest the alter. At the end of the service the usher's collected them up and we used them to decorate the hall where we were having the reception at.

The design you can have really depends on the shape of the pew end. Some pews have rounded tops which are quite difficult to attach things to - some are ornately carved which can also be a problem. It depends on the church really. Some church pews already have hooks attached where you can tie bows or hang flowers although these are few and far between because most churches/ministers wont allow you (and quite rightly so!) to damage the pews in any way. The best way of attaching pews to pew ends is by the specialist fixtures used by florists which clip over the top of the pew and don't damage it in any way. The next best alternative is ribbon tied tightly! If you take a photo of the pew end and show it to your florist,, she will let you know what sort of designs will fit those particular pews.

I agree. With the speciallist fxings tho you can take the backs off them and use them as table decor. If the flowers have been designed to be able to do that - If they havnt been designed to do that then they can topple over so tell your florist that is what you need them for and she can sort the weight problem out when she makes them up.

My wedding i had a pew end on the both sides of the end isle where we were stood and then i had bows down every other isle with a single rose resting in the centre of the bow.

    Hope this helps.
