Covid worries

Yorkshirelass, 5 July, 2022 at 20:09 Posted on Planning 0 17
We are getting married on 23rd of this month and I’ve started getting very worried about Covid😳 I’m not an anxious person or a drama queen but I’m worrying a lot about people pulling out in general in the weeks before but also panicking about key people getting it. My parents haven’t had it - at least they don’t think they have. Neither has his mum who’s also very old (87) so that’s an added worry. Myself and most of my friends have had it including my kids not that it means you won’t get it again I know. We’ve all been vaccinated as well. I just don’t know what I will do if we lose lots of people in the last days or week. My FH just says there is nothing we can do about it and I know he’s right. I suppose I just wanted to vent about it. I should say we have not moved the date and always planned to marry this year- we got engaged during the lockdown after 5 years so this isn’t a Covid rearrangement. Just feeling helpless I suppose 😬

I know! Thanks for your reply and I am trying to stay calm about it. I have consoled myself with deciding we can still do a zoom or FaceTime for someone important if they can’t make it. As long as it’s not the wedding party I suppose!

I feel your pain - we got married 10 days ago and the whole build up was overshadowed by covid. My dad actually had it and only just tested negative in time so it was touch and go as to whether he could make it. In the end though - we didn’t have a single covid drop out (and no one caught it at our wedding either!)
All you can do is hope for the best. Fact is that it’s around and statistically someone will have it but few people are testing and most have vaccine/recent infection which provides protection - it is also significantly less serious than it was. My husband (!) was like your FH but being told there is nothing you can do and not to worry doesn’t stop the worry! All I can say is that you will have an amazing day whatever and just try not to let the spectre of covid get in the way of that (also, I’d actually forgotten how freaked out I was before hand until your post resonated so strongly with me!). Good luck - and vent away (I know it helps me!!) x

My wedding is this Saturday and so far we've had one dropout, so it's not too bad. My entire immediate family caught it last week, which was super stressful, but they've recovered. Best to not think about it at all if you can, try and do something nice to take your mind off it Smiley smile

I totally understand your worries. I think we just have to accept that it could happen. We have made the decision to not go to crowded places and work from home for the week before our wedding to slightly reduce our risk of catching covid. The day will be special even if it isn’t 100% as planned. Enjoy!

Yes I’m lucky I can work from home so will do that for the next two weeks. My FH cant though and I have two teenagers still in school so it’s not going to be easy to avoid all people. I just hope no one “important” is poorly and by that I mean wedding party and his mum. Stressful 😬

Aww thanks for asking! I’m not too bad at the moment, I know it’s a bit naughty but I’ve told all my guests not to test and I don’t wanna know! I am now working at home again but stressing a bit as FH goes out to work and kids still in school! Thankfully kids finish tomo so we have a clear week until the wedding.
    Thanks for checking up!

I’m ok so far thanks for asking. No cancellations from guests yet but I’m still nervous! Finished work today which was nice and they gave us some money for our wedding which was lovely. Fingers crossed for next few days and at least it’s cooler!

I’ve got to sort out the favours today and steam one of the BM dresses and his shirt! Get all the stuff ready to take to the venue tomo and my parents arrive tomo so need to make up my spare room for them. Glad it’s cooler but I’ve not been sleeping that well as I wake and start thinking too much!
