Did you get engaged on a special day?

OH popped the question on my 30th birthday.

Ours was just a day... only special because I don't often get a Saturday night off and we're able to go out together. I managed to drag him away from his mates for a drink just the two of us and he responded to my nagging by proposing!

Surprise trip to Paris..midnight Valentine's Eve, Eiffel Tower, pink diamond engagement ring.....can't believe it's been 6 years!

My OH proposed on my birthday- completley out of the blue as he has always said that a bit of paper doesn't make a difference etc etc so I must have softened him along the way!

I should have known something was up when I got home and the house was clean. He told me not to go in the spare room and I told him that it was ok I knew he was getting me tyres for the car for my birthday present and that we had to be practical now that we had a mortgage to pay!

Not a special day, just a random Saturday, but it was a special place. Went back to the place we met and where our love blossomed (?) and he proposed at the most perfect place. We'd never talked about where he'd do it, but it was exactly where i'd wanted it to be.

He gave some thought to the date he would propose, but not based on anything special. In fact, he said he picked the day specifically because it wasn't the same day as anything else so that we could celebrate it on its own merit in the future, which i thought was sweet

Christmas Eve, under the christmas tree ?

Nope...Mr F knew i woudlnt want it to be a special date...not christmas, or valentines day or my birthday or an anniversary, cos thats when itd be expected so he picked ther first night of our holiday last year..and yes, very unexpected!

Ours was on my OH's birthday, on a hot air balloon in Paris!

Ours was a Thursday evening. Mr CB had always said he'd propose when I was least expecting it and on a day we'd make our own as Christmas Day, Valentine's Day proposals seem twee to him.

On a Wednesday evening in September. He was naked after just getting out of the bath. Very unexpected, very random and I would never want to change the way it happened.

On my birthday on a beach in Barbados! Waited years and I thought it'd never happen.... bless him. Took his time but it was worth it!!! :-)

On my birthday. He wisked me away to Devon for the weekend and gave me all my presents in the morning then rushed off and said I have one more and to close my eyes, when I was allowed to open them he was there on one knee x

On April Fools Day 2010!

Ours was a normal Sunday after noon!

My OH knows how close to my family I am and we were having a family BBQ as my brother worked abroad and he was back for a week.

He managed to get my ring ordered and delivered in time for the BBQ. He kept nipping inside the house and at first I was following him to ask what he was doing - checking the golf score was the answer. Then he came out, the music got switched off and down onto one knee he went! hehe.. perfect engagement for me and because he told my Mum she obviously had her camera ready so we have some great pics as a memory!! xx

Not a special day no, we had gone away for an overnight stay to have a meal and go to a show. He asked me at night,lying in bed and then on the sunday we went and I picked my own ring.....not a very romantic story to tell the grandkids but hey ho.

And my friend's fiance got down on one knee as the bell's were chiming on new years eve......my personal fave that one!

I would personally have been mortified if my fiance got down on one knee - we are just not that kind of couple!!!! haha

I'm still waiting for a proposal and a ring - all I've had so far is "if you are wanting to get Married you'd best ring the Vicar and get something booked!" My ring is in the bottom drawer - I've managed not to peek and now I'm waiting for a gran proposal!

We got engaged on Valentines Day this year after just about 5 years together. We have our own house and a beautiful daughter, and i really wasn't expecting it, even though i spent most of lunchtime at work play sulking because I hadn't got a ring for Valentines day! Little did I know when I got home in my Valentines card he'd written... "to my future wife..", so I asked if that was a proposal, he said "aye" and the rest is history!

No bended knee but it was very Mr Nasty Cough and I can't wait to be his wife in 35 days eeek

Ours was on Christmas Day too and it was unexpected because I thought it was never going to happen :0) Our wedding will be on our 10 year and one day anniversary!!

Although he didn't realise it at the time, it was my parents' 30th anniversary. Other than that, no particular significance.

Ours was on my 27th birthday last year (and it's my 28th today - where has the year gone?!) We'd just come back from a trip of a lifetime driving across America where I half thought he was going to do it. When it didn't happen I thought I still had years to wait so it was a total surprise on the day.

The day before me!!! OH got the ring that day and was going to do it then as he couldn't wait but I was tired after work and went for anap before going out to my 2nd job so he thought it was a bad time. It was a bad time cos I couldn't even have told myparents first so glad he waited til the 2nd

For this reason I won't be making any jokes about april fools...lol

I proposed to my OH on his 40th birthday in January this year. The ring was his 40th present. One of the most nerve wracking things i have ever done!
