Do you have a dress code/uniform for work?

When working part time in a department store and supermarket as a student I wore a uniform, in my "grown up" full time jobs I've either been required to wear business dress or worked in a no dress code casual office. Currently I am business casual (as in trousers/skirt, top and a cardigan most days)...

When working part time in a department store and supermarket as a student I wore a uniform, in my "grown up" full time jobs I've either been required to wear business dress or worked in a no dress code casual office. Currently I am business casual (as in trousers/skirt, top and a cardigan most days) and self funded. My work is now purchasing us all shirts to wear. Nothing offensive, blue or white, with company logo. I'm perfectly willing but a lot of staff are not happy and don't want to be "branded".

What do you wear to work, and is it your choice or a requirement set out by, and therefor paid for by your employer?

I wear cheap jeans and T shirts to work and I have to wear a hi-vis vest and safety boots - provided by my company.

I do have an optional uniform which consists of a hi-vis polo shirt made out of nasty sweaty material and a jacket and trousers in postman grey (i'm not a postman). The jacket I wear sometimes in the winter as an extra layer but the trousers.... If I want the waist round my waist then the crotch is round my knees and if the crotch is in the right place, the waist is near my boobs. They do do a ladies version, sadly it has exactly the same waist/crotch dimensions but with elastication around the 'waist'.

Sometimes I wear a bit of makeup to work as it makes me feel better but I could go in looking like Jim Royle's worse looking sister and that would be acceptable to my bosses.

I would love to go to work somewhere I could wear Mad Men style outfits.

    Woo - back on topic!

I work in an office where the dress code is supposed to be smart. So we're going with 'tailored' trousers, skirts, dresses, shirts or plain t-shirts, proper shoes. Some people dress smarter than others (ie: some men wear ties, some don't)

If we have customers in then we are all asked to make an effort to dress professionally, so all the suit jackets come out of hiding!

I personally would love to wear a uniform, and I'd be happy to make a donation to pay for it. I have to pay for my work clothes anyway and they are not items that I would wear for casual. It would make getting readu in the morning a whole lot easier!!

I don't have a uniform, but I have my own clothes that I wear just for work. I can wear whatever I want for work. I'm not judged for wearing make-up, having raven black hair, having pretty nails, being pierced or having tattoos which are visible in whatever I wear.

I could turn up to work in a smart suit or a tracksuit and either would be fine.

Some days I wear jeans, others black trousers and a casual shirt. Depends what I'm upto. If it's gonna be a messy day, I'll wear something I don't mind getting mucky.. Or if we're off out for the day, I'll wear something equally suitable. Always wear flat shoes to work and wellies are always on standby in my car.

I don't get any allowance for clothes.
