Do you tip suppliers?

Natalia, 6 June, 2025 at 19:33 Posted on Etiquette and Advice 0 3
I’m a US citizen and normally in American weddings couples tip the suppliers, is that a thing in the UK? If not, do you just give them a thank you card?

Also, is a father/daughter dance customary in England?

No tipping expected in the UK but the absolute best thing you can do worth more than any tip is to take the time to post a review on their socials

Also, is a father/daughter dance customary in England?---- not really a "thing" here but I have seen plenty. Your day - your rules.

We just sent thank you cards to our suppliers and also gave them glowing reviews online. We did offer our photographer food on the day - again, not a requirement, but I know from friends who are wedding photographers that they always appreciate the offer!

Great questions! In the UK, tipping wedding suppliers isn't as common or expected as it is in the US, but it's always appreciated if someone goes above and beyond—people often give a thank-you card or small gift instead. As for the father/daughter dance, it's not a strict tradition in England, but it's become more popular in recent years. Some couples include it, while others skip it entirely—it really depends on personal preference and the vibe of the wedding.
