Dress too big around bodice, bust help!

Danielle, 1 July, 2022 at 01:52 Posted on Wedding Attire 0 4
Hello
So my wedding dress is too big around the bust area I'm concerned because I cannot find anyone to take it in. It's a corset back it was pulled in to the point I couldn't breath. The rest of the bodice fits perfectly. Also the satin string for my corset back is too short. Any advice would be great I get married in March 2023 and I'm in panic mode.

But you have plenty of time if you are not getting married until March 2023! Have you asked for recommendations on local Facebook, there is a lovely family owned alterations shop on our high street that I found out about via our Facebook group for the town and we took FH's trousers there to be taken up. That is the kind of place you need. Otherwise where did you buy it? Can you ask them for any contact details of a seamstress or tailor. It can be easily fixed once you have found someone, don't panic!

I would say you may need the shoulders taking up a bit to then lift the bodice bust area to fit if you have strap?, I had the same issue and they took an inch out of the strap and it fitted much better and was easier than having the bodice changed. Also, as a corset back, try not to have it to tight at the bottom as that causes it to ride and be too big at the top. I had to play around with mine to get the right fit, by loosening it slightly. Regards the string, you should be able to buy another one quite easily or ask a seamstress to make a new one. As Yorkshirelass says, you have plenty of time so don't panic, what seems a difficult task will be an easy fix for the right seamstress. Have a look at local options and try and get an appointment soon so it eases your worries as they will be able to confirm they can sort it.
