Corset back for me, i think they look lovely and also handy to loosen up after eating ?
My friend went to a wedding last month where the bride was wearing a button back dress, it got so tight after eating and drinking all day she got fed up went to the loo and un did it all, my friend then found her crying in the toilets because she was so uncomfortable - in the end she had to lend the bride her shawl to wear over the dress so she didnt have to do it back up!!
Completely depends on the dress. Buttons are timeless elegance, corset backs are modern and sexy. However, I have neither and will maybe be the only bride here who has to put her dress on over her head
For me though, I knew when I started looking for my dress I definately wanted a corset back, I love the gothic/gypsy type look and knew that a corset back was top of the list for me.
I've got a corset back and it's in a bigger size so the sides are closer together instead of wide apart as to me it looks like you've had to squeeze into the dress if they're wider.
I really DIDN'T want a corset back, but ended up with a dress with one; have chosen really thin ribbons so it isn't too much of a feature...I'm happy with it as it doesn't look too corset-y. Not sure I like buttons either; I'm just a fussy b*gger...don't know what else there is! But choice between the two I'd have buttons as it seems everyone has corsets these days...although I have a corset too
I just think that unless a dress is made to measure (and even if it is to be honest), that the corset back will give a better fit, but also it will help cinch in the waist, as well as being a bit more forgiving if you've either lost/gained weight!
I love the button back. Love dresses with buttons all the way down the back. Mine is a button back with an internal hook and eye corset thing and it has a zip then I do the crystal buttons. Al's going to have a hard time getting me out of that! ?
My MIL2B said something similar... buttons are quite expensive compared to ribbon, and when dresses were all handmade etc, buttons would show that you (well, your family) had the money to buy such an expensive feature.
