Engagement ring *flash*, anyone else want to join in? :)

I love my ring and still find myself dreamily gazing at it. It is super important to me as i designed it to incorporate the rubies from a ring my late great grandmother gave to me. The band is yellow gold with the rubies, and then the twist is platinum with diamonds.

I've also had my wedding band designed around it so it slots together perfectly! X

Bit of a bump but getting acquainted with the forum.

my OH proposed to me on 31st May on the same day we moved house. He hid the ring in the freezer and made me get ice for the champagne bucket to celebrate the new home.

He asked my friend what I liked but she didn't know because I didn't know, after we went to another wedding and I was dreaming about being engaged I dreamt about this type of ring and I thing she suggested it to him.

don't know how many carats (is it rude to ask him), but I know it's white gold.

all I do is play with it. I don't wear jewellery so it still feels really odd.

proposed on 26th June 2013 (day before my 30th birthday). In hyde park, I was running after squirrels trying to take pictures he was on his knee in the grass!

I was 30 on 27th June 2013 too! I was hoping my boyfriend would propose but he knew I thought he might so he made me wait a few more months! Mean!

Here's mine got to choose it myself in the Argyll arcade in Glasgow as my other half proposed while we were in Paris with a giant plastic flashing ring!! Haha, it's diamond set in platinum.

my oh and best friend schemed to get my ring size and oh chose the ring himself. I fell in love with it as soon as he put it on my finger, constantly messing with it and checking its still there!

Here's mine - I didn't like a traditional engagement ring, they just looked odd on my hand.

What a brill thread! Love the fact so many different & unique rings out there!

Mine is antique - H2B family heirloom. It's 3 diamonds in a shamrock style.. And the stones are much bigger than I would have chosen. He did tell me I could have the stones spilt into a solitaire & use stones for other pieces but I decided I loved the design and sentiment that it was passed down.

It's been resized by 3.5 sizes to fit & is sill a little loose sometimes. Here it is on my pinky together with 1st wax model of wedding band. The ER is such an odd shape we had o get a band made to fit round.

My is platinum and it looks like an eye, open in the middle save for a third carat white diamond and with a small black diamond at the corner or the eye. So two black diamonds altogether.

I wanted my OH to put all the value into this ring so I'm not having a wedding ring. This one was expensive enough lol. We have a local jeweller who makes bespoke rings and he got it just right. Exactly what I wanted.

I love it. It's so neat and I don't have to get it dipped. Having a wedding band would only detract from it do that's why I've dispensed with one.

This is my ring (it's technically my second as my OH proposed with a different ring that i now wear on my right hand (the proposal was very confusing "will you marry me? - this is not your engagement ring!")

This ring is made up of the stones from my mothers first engagement ring (her and dad had very little money so they got a ring that had no hallmarks, then on their 25th anniversary dad got her "the ring of her dreams.") My OH asked for my hand and mum volunteered her first ring to be reset. So we had the diamond reset in a metal called Mokume Gane which looks like tree rings.

I had to wait 3.5 months after he proposed to see the finished product and i was so scared! I loved how mum treasured her ring and wanted to do it justice. I think it has... xxx

This is mine, it's diamond (11 in total) and platinum. We chose it together and I absolutely love it.

I am getting the matching wedding ring:

This is mine and i couldn't love it more! Its a 1 carat aquamarine with round diamonds (even though they look square in the pic!), on either side each about 1/3 carat each. And a platinum band. I dont think i'll ever get bored of looking at it!

Here's mine! I'm totally besotted with it!! He chose it all by himself... he knew I liked princess cut and platinum from when I mentioned it about 4 years ago. He found this stone on a white gold band and got it reset on platinum! He's a keeper!!! ??

It's platinum with a half carat marquise diamond solitaire.

This is pretty much my ring! 5 years later I still stare at it and can't believe it's mine.

Mine's silver with an opal and two amethysts either side that my OH chose himself, but it only fits my right hand!
Apparently its due to be upgraded when we get a bit of cash so he won't let me get it re-sized...

I asked why he picked an opal as I thought it was unusual and his response was,
"Well I heard they were unlucky and since we got together on Friday 13th I figured unlucky works well for us."
