Facebook group instead of website?

Isabella, 10 June, 2025 at 12:07 Posted on Etiquette and Advice 1 7
We’re wanting to keep our wedding super relaxed, and like the idea of a private wedding Facebook group to keep people in the loop & we figured it also means people can post their photos/videos on there afterwards too. We want to send official invites etc, but rather than link them to a website, they’re invited to the FB group. Is this weird, or unusual? Is it even a good idea?

Hi Isabella, I am planning our wedding also to be very relaxed, it will be around 20 people. I am planning to create whatsapp group, that is all:-) But I have just downloaded Wedshoots app, I think it will be easier to have photos in one place instead of everyone sending me milion photos each:-) But yeah, fb group sounds good, also for sending photos! Wish you all the best and amazing wedding day:-)

As long as all your guests are on Facebook, you should be ok, but bear in mind not everyone has (or wants to have) a Facebook account. The advantage of a website is that anyone with internet can access it. (Of course, if you have invitees are not even on the internet in the first place, that's another issue!)

Okay, that sounds like a lovely, chilled wedding vibe! I totally get wanting to keep everyone updated easily. A private Facebook group is a smart idea for sharing photos and quick announcements. It's definitely a bit unusual to direct people to the group from the invites, but if it suits your style, go for it! I kinda see it like playing Eggy Car – you know, sometimes you just launch right into the ridiculousness and hope for the best! I'd just maybe consider older relatives who might not be FB savvy. Good luck with the planning!

I love this idea for a super relaxed wedding! Not weird at all, a private FB group sounds really practical for updates and sharing photos. It's all about finding the right *angle* for your big day, right? Haha! I sometimes even need a free online protractor for my DIY projects, so I get finding the right tools!

If you’re looking for alternatives to hosting content directly on a website, using addons like streaming through Stremio can be a practical solution. Torrentio allows users to access and stream content from multiple public sources without needing to host files themselves, similar to how a Facebook group shares resources without running a full site. This approach provides flexibility and ease of access, while still requiring awareness of legal and privacy considerations when sharing or streaming content online.

Creating a Facebook group instead of a website can be convenient for some couples, but I've found that dedicated wedding planning websites offer more comprehensive features. For instance, when planning my sister's wedding, we used a website to track RSVPs, share photos, and provide venue information - things that are harder to organize in a group format. However, if you prefer Facebook, I recommend the online Protractor tool at https://onlineprotractor.com. It's free, easy to use, and great for measuring angles accurately when planning seating arrangements or table layouts. Thanks for sharing this topic!
