First Dance Song

We're having 'The Way you Look Tonight' sung by our singer. OH and I are having dance lessons but not specifically for the first dance. I've danced since I was little and wanted OH to learn so we were having lessons before the engagement although hes still not the best!

We're not going to have a choreographed dance as such, I just want it to flow naturally. So I'm relying on OH to learn how to lead before the wedding!

What song were you thinking of?

We want Elbow - Newborn as our first dance.....though it brings me to tears everytime.

We chose it because it's an album that's always been a part of our lives as a couple. I remember bringing "Asleep in the Back," along when OH and I went to Cornwall, in our first few months of being together. I remember this song was playing as we were driving on a road with a tree-lined canopy. It was so beautiful. It was the first time he said he loved me.

This song also means so much to me, as before I was with my OH, it reminded me of my Grandparents' situation. The lyrics are beautiful. Guy Garvey is a legend.

We wont be practicing before hand.

Think we've decided on Don't Falter by Mint Royale. We wanted something really upbeat and this song just makes us beam and reminisce about the very start of our relationship. I love the idea of asking your brand new husband/wife to stay with you (that's why 'will you still love me tomorrow?' will be our last song). I also love the soppy lyrics:

"You must decide to risk your heart for love to find you" - because we were both seeing other people when we first met, so it was a huge risk for us to get together

"Strange, I saw you, I sorta knew it was for ever" - because even though we weren't supposed to love each other when we first met, we did

"Please, stay with me and never miss a chance to kiss me" - Awwww I never want my H2B to stop kissing me!

"Now everything is fine because he is officially mine" - Hehe, well it's true he will be on the day!

"It's only right to have a little love around you" - my married name will be Little, so I think it is only right to have a Little love around us!

p.s. We won't be having lessons, but we have already been practising - which was just as well because he was trying to twirl me around and I suggested that it might be difficult to go at that pace in my dress!

Hi - we're kinda having 2 first dances - though neither are "offical" first dances ?

We always thing it's strange that the first dance of the night (which effectively gets the disco going) is slow and D doesn't really want to have a specific first dance (not that he doesnt love dancing) so we're going have the very first dance to S Club 7 - Reach as it was the first song we ever danced to and kinda how we met (I dragged him up to dance to it at a party having just met him).

Our soppy song is going to the last dance - we plan to leave straight after and it's going to be Elton John - Something about the way you look tonight. I love that song - the words are lush and D now likes EJ and the song reminds him of me ?

We won't be practicing - we already know the moves to Reach and everytime we dance together we twirl around so going for the fun and noral approach (for us)

I've been really struggling with ideas as every song that makes me think of my OH is an upbeat track.

When we first met, 'Everytime we touch' by Cascada was out and my favourite song so we'd dance to that ALOT!

I'm having the candlelight version as my 'walk down the aisle' song and we have been debating just having it as our first dance but I'm not sure!

I really like the idea of having an upbeat song as our first dance and a slow song as our last dance but I worry what people will think!

I think the best song would be the one that you and your hubby like, it maybe your theme song or a song that has a deep meaning for you and your hubby

Weirdly, we haven't decided yet - we have songs that we like - but not one suitable that's "our song". If you have something that makes you think about him, or a fave artist or someone you've seen in concert together I guess that's a good route....but then again I'm still waiting for inspiration to strike!

We are also stuck on the song we love No promises by shayne ward but not sure if it is appropriate? We are starting to go to salsa because my OH has two left feet!!!!

We're going for something a little different... not really sure yet how we're going to 'dance' to it.

We both love michael bubles everything and lost. we are kind of drawn to everything as its more up beat but not really sure.

Were having Better Together by Jack Johnson, were not having lessons but im sure we will have a practice before the day hehe

Keeps changing! Started off as some proper cheese with thoughts of Boyzones 'Every day I love you', but now we are debating either The Ramones 'Baby I love you' or 'You and me song' by The Wannadies - although I am not entirely sure how we would dance to that one! I am having premonitions of some leaping around during the chorus, but I am not sure my wedding dress will permit it!

We want to have "Stand by me" by NOFX, its the first song we ever danced to together, i'm worried that some guests won't see the funny side of it....i'm also not sure how to dance to it while everyone is watching (i image we will look like fools......so it may end up being the Ben E King version)

We're having All You need is Love by Madness - it's one of OH's favourite bands and I originally wanted to keep it a surprise for him but suddenly thought it might be an idea for us to have a wee practice dance first as between us we have 4 left feet. I'm hoping the second dance can be "I Want You to Want Me" by Cheap trick but haven't quite convinced him yet.......

Me and my OH are having 'Everything I Do' by Bryan Adams because it describes how we feel about each other and the first romantic song which was on during our first date.

Dont think were having a practice although we may do not sure yet, weve been practicing swaying on our own lol.

My OH loves Caledonia but its not really a 1st dance song - will probably have that as the last song

My OH is not a music 'fan' and refuses to dance ever!! I've persuaded him that we have to have a first dance and he's agreed with Ricky Martin/Meja Private Emotion. He hated all the more romantic/slow songs I picked but said that was 'ok I guess' lol so that's what we've gone with! I like it anyway ?

Jem I love that song!!! Don't think my OH would allow me to have Ricky Martin though... more of a Metallica / Iron Maiden theme so far ?

We did have a Lonestar/Bryan Adams/Bon Jovi debate before he agreed to Ricky Martin. It's not a particularly well-known song either (I was seriously beginning to think I was the only one who had ever heard of it!!lol), hoping it will work now...

We can't decide! I asked the OH to write a list of songs he thinks represent us and would make good first dance songs and I've written a list too, and on Saturday we're going to compare them and see if there's any overlap. Except my list is about a page long (and ever-growing) and I have a feeling he'll be scrabbling around on Saturday morning desperately trying to come up with something that I don't hate....

We are having The Fray - Look After You.............................. I think, it may change but we are 99% sure this is what we are going to have.

We didn't have a first dance song, but we had "our song" played quite a bit which was One day like this by Elbow. We even went to see them at the MEN between the wedding and the reception

(for those that don't know me, I got married abroad, so reception was a week later, not a few hours! ha ha x)
