Hi all

I am looking to book my flourist but also want to keep cost low. Is it common practice for the flower girls to have faux flowers or authentic ?Thanks

I was originally going to have real flowers for my flower girls but was quoted £20 for their posys!! They now have wands with ribbons and a fake flower on.
If I had older/ adult bridesmaids I would get real flowers but I’ve got little ones (all under 6!) and from experience they just pull them apart and then for the photos they are stood there with green stalks 🙊

I’ve got 2 flower girls under 6 and reading your message has terrified me 🤣. Do you have photos of the wands and flowers? I might need to reconsider ...

Oh I didn’t want to do that, I’m sorry 😘
It could just be my daughter who is a terror 🤣
She was 3 when she was a bridesmaid last and I just have that memory which put me off spending money on flowers which she could destroy.

So this is the wand (£5 for 6 on eBay) they are more glittery and sparkly in real life. I’ve got some ivory ribbon which I will tie in a bow at the top of the stick and then put some tiny little flowers at the top or a sunflower head (small) as my flowers are sunflowers. I was going to tie a small version of the button hole flowers to them but not sure if that will be too much. I’m making them at the weekend hopefully so I’ll take a photo of them completed.
I looked in the range and they had little mini flower bouquets for around £3 which looked real. I was thinking them before I found the wands. We’re having a sweetie table so I know whatever I give the kids to carry will be dumped their whilst they stuff their faces and get a sugar high 😂

I’ve been a bridesmaid twice and carried artificial bouquets both times. To be brutally honest by the end of the day most of them were falling apart but by that point who carers anyway - as long as they’re still intact for the photos!

I'm having all artificial flowers. It'll keep the cost down, I can make them myself and have exactly what I want x
