Food

Hi beauts, not messaged on here for a while. Our weddings only 8 days away week!

Just a quick question for you all. When would be the best time to open our buffet?
Our ceremony is a 3pm in our local register office, and reception guests are coming from 5:30pm onwards. The reception venue is 20 minutes from the ceremony venue
Will we need canapes in between?
We're not having a wedding breakfast, the hot and cold buffet is our main food; hot food for 90 and a cold buffet for 60
I'm probably just overthinking xx

Since your ceremony is at 3pm and reception guests arrive from 5:30pm onwards, the ideal time to open your buffet would be around 6:30pm—this gives everyone time to settle in, enjoy a drink, and then have food without feeling rushed; since you’re not having a wedding breakfast, you don’t necessarily need canapés in between unless you think your guests may get peckish, but offering light nibbles or finger snacks could be a nice touch, similar to how places like Primanti's menu with prices offer both hearty mains and smaller bites, allowing guests to pace themselves until the main buffet opens.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! That buffet plan sounds lovely, and having a quick snack or canapes before the main buffet could help guests settle in comfortably. Opening the buffet a little after guests arrive, around 6:30pm, usually works well so people have time to settle in and grab a drink first. Since there’s a gap between the ceremony and reception, a small canape option can help keep everyone comfortable without taking away from the main buffet later. It’s totally normal to overthink timings, but guests are generally happy as long as food is available at a reasonable point, kind of like checking ahead on something like is twin peaks open on thanksgiving so plans don’t get thrown off last minute.

Hi there! Congratulations only 8 days to go, how exciting!

Since your ceremony is at 3pm and the reception starts around 5:30pm, there’s a bit of a gap for guests traveling between venues. Offering a few light canapés or finger foods during that time is a great idea it keeps everyone comfortable and prevents anyone from getting too hungry before the main buffet.

For the buffet itself, I’d recommend opening it once most guests have arrived at the reception, maybe around 6pm. This way, your hot and cold buffet (90 hot, 60 cold) will be enjoyed at its best, and no one will feel rushed.

If you’re looking for quick ideas for wedding canapés or buffet inspiration, you might find enjoytastyrecipes.com super helpful they have tons of simple recipes that can suit both small and large wedding gatherings!

Hope that helps enjoy your big day, it sounds like it’s going to be amazing!

For your wedding timing, it’s a good idea to consider light snacks if there’s a long gap between the ceremony and buffet. Similarly, knowing Taco Bell breakfast hours helps plan when to grab a quick morning meal without waiting, keeping everything smooth and stress-free.

With a 3pm ceremony and guests arriving around 5:30, there’s a decent gap where people will feel peckish, especially after travel and photos, so light canapés or small bites on arrival would really help keep the mood relaxed and stop everyone hovering around the buffet too early. Opening the main buffet around 6:30 to 7pm usually works well because guests have had time to mingle and settle, and it still feels like dinner rather than a late snack. Mixing hot and cold stations is a good idea too since it prevents queues and lets people pace themselves, a bit like the variety you see on the China Star Menu where guests can pick what suits them without rushing. Honestly it sounds nicely planned already, just add a small welcome nibble and you’ll avoid hungry guests.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, that’s so exciting! Your timeline sounds pretty reasonable, especially with guests arriving later in the evening. Offering canapés could be a nice touch if there’s a long gap between the ceremony and buffet, just to keep guests comfortable. When planning food options for events, I sometimes look at restaurant catering and meal ideas too, and recently I had a look at View Outback Steakhouse menu pricing while comparing buffet and group meal options. It can help give a rough idea of portion planning and food variety. Wishing you a beautiful wedding day and smooth celebrations!

Since your ceremony is at 3 pm and guests arrive at the reception from 5:30 pm (20 minutes away), it’s best to open the buffet around 6 pm. You might want canapés or light snacks between 3 pm–5:30 pm, especially if guests will be hungry after the ceremony. This way, your hot and cold buffet serves as the main meal without leaving guests too hungry.

I’d open the buffet around 6:30–7:00 pm, giving guests time to arrive, grab a drink, and settle in first. Since it’s your main meal, that timing flows well after a 3 pm ceremony. Canapés aren’t essential, but a few light bites at 5:45–6:00 pm would keep everyone comfortable. It’s like when people view Dutch Bros menu with prices before ordering; planning just keeps everything smooth and stress-free. 😊

Hi! Congrats on your upcoming wedding how exciting! 🎉
With your ceremony at 3 pm and reception guests arriving around 5:30 pm, there’s a decent gap, so offering a few canapés or light snacks could keep everyone comfortable and happy, especially if some guests are traveling. For the buffet timing, opening it shortly after guests arrive (around 5:45–6 pm) usually works well, so people can mingle first and then enjoy the food without feeling rushed.
Also, when planning events like this, it’s good to think ahead about all eventualities from catering to logistics much like some people plan for future needs such as coffins for sale . It might sound morbid in the context of a wedding, but having reliable options in place can give peace of mind for life’s unexpected moments.

Hope your big day is perfect and that the buffet timing goes smoothly! xx

Food timing can feel tricky when the ceremony and reception are a few hours apart, but opening the buffet around 6:30pm or shortly after most guests arrive usually works well and keeps everyone comfortable without rushing the flow of the evening. Light canapés during the waiting period can also help guests who may be hungry after traveling between venues. Planning food this way keeps the atmosphere relaxed so guests can mingle, similar to how a clear layout like the full 7 Brew menu makes it easy for visitors to choose drinks without confusion. A simple schedule and a small snack option in between can make the transition from ceremony to reception feel smooth and enjoyable.
