Hair Straighteners

Rizzo, 28 February, 2012 at 16:42 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 44

I had 9 inches cut off my hair at the weekend and while I'm happy with it once the shock wore off, I'm now in need of some decent hair straightners.

Which ones do you use?

Where did you get them from?

I've been looking at them online, but don't want to get ripped off with fake ones.

PS VP, did your hubby enjoy Wembley??

GHDs. I live in fear of a day when they break and I have to go into work looking like a scarecrow.

Exactly what Tricks said, I actually feel embarrassed that I use to go out of the house with unstraightended hair *shudders*

I would either go to a salon or buy from a well known company ie Amazon, you will pay a bit more but at least you know you will be getting the real deal.

    I can.

It started with the good old fashioned iron and a towel. Then I upgraded to:

    Followed by:

    And then these bad boys:

Mooey I bought them from a hairdressers. Probably not the cheapest I could have found but I didn't want to order online.

I was always a die hard GHD fan, but 3 years ago I bought a pair of Jose Eber straighteners in Selfridges and I think they are actually better (never thought I would say that !!). My hairdresser seems to think they have damaged my hair a lot less as well, but I am very naughty and never use any heat protection !

I update my straighteners every 18 months and bought my last pair from Beautybay.com with a 20% discount code so they were £80 instead of £100.

GHD's. Don't bother with anything else. I bought mine from my hairdressers, and I would advise you pop into a local one that sotcks them.

HT, I had those as per your last picture. IMO they do not compare to GHD's.

No they don't, but when I had them GHD's didn't exist. I was showing Tricks my hair straightening journey.

He loved it! I was v jealous! I was a nervous wreck watching them penalties!! Did you watch? I waited up for him to get back and we had a bottle of bubbly to celebrate as he had booked Monday off work!

My best mate was there too and she said it was fab, they had better seats than H and she said the atmosphere was just incredible.

GHD's for me too. I'm on my third set but I have been using them for a lot of years so I think they're good value.

I don't think they tend to set fire in your hand anymore anyway.

Look on the ghd website, it tells you which sites are real and which are fake.

I don't need to Hatty - I did the same a few years ago. Scar took ages to bugger off and it hurt like billio.

Someone we met on our honeymoon was sitting in the front row of the Royal Box!

I watched most of it, had to look away for some of it - I really thought we'd lost it when Gerrard missed his penalty.

Laughed when Skrtle pushed Adam out the way when he scored....

You have to kind of flick it up at the roots. Or don't straighten from the roots?

    Or donate them to Mooey?

Do it that way and then straighten the roots for just the top layer of your hair IYKWIM?

I don't know why I'm trying to give advice as my hair is as flat as a pancake!

    Ooh the lucky beggars!

Yeah I was hiding half in the kitchen half head in the living room for most of the pens.

I loved King Kennys big smiley face afterwards. Our next door neighbours set off firewors as Stevie G lifted the cup. Ace times.

My facebook was very annoying full of bitter blues willing us to lose all the way through. This city is so divided!

GHDs definitely (HT - I used to have those Babyliss steam ones too - they were terrible!).

I've just ordered my second pair with my birthday money. My original pair are about 7 years old now and are just starting to go a bit funny. I have very thick uncontrollable hair and GHDs are the only ones that can actually straighten it.

I have GHD Mark 4's (H bought them for my 22nd birthday, so they'll be 4 years old this year!) but my hairdresser informed me that i should get a different pair because my hair is so fine that the straighteners are too hot for my hair (even with protection)

I'm thinking i might invest in a pair....as soon as i remember what they were called... *goes to text hairdresser*

    Plain black ones.

I'm wondering if my nearly 13 year old son will let me test them on his Bieber hair*?

    *old hairstyle, not current one.

    How much are GHD's now?

I had my first pair in 2002 (dad brought them for me) and my second pair in 2005 (H brought me them). I know they did cost £70 but what about now?
