Has anyone recently booked a wedding for summer 23 please?

Rachel, 23 July, 2022 at 23:36 Posted on Planning 0 9
Hi

I’d be really grateful to hear from anyone who has recently booked a wedding for Summer 23.
We have just got engaged and really want to get married next summer. I’ve contacted a few venues and the one who have come back are fully booked for most of next summer and only have the odd date later in the year.
I imagine the other venues will be much the same however if one does have a summer date available we’d be keen to book - however I’m worried that as venues seem to be booked up for next year that most suppliers (photographers etc) will be too and I don’t know if we would struggle to find any with availability.
I don’t feel like I can contact suppliers until we have a date so I’m a bit stuck and not sure if we would be best pushing it back a year to 2024.
If there is anyone with a similar timeline id be really grateful to to hear how you have got on?
Thank you!!

We were in the same spot and somehow managed to snag a date in the summer at the first venue we viewed as my fiancé was super keen on getting married in the summer, as was I tbh. This meant we didn’t get a chance to view anywhere else and make comparisons (maybe this is a good thing) and we just grabbed onto the date that was available. If it’s not going to make you terribly anxious, it might be worth holding on to see if any venues have last minute summer deals/dates a little later in the year or early next year. Also might be worth looking at a wider radius for venues? Best of luck with finding a date/venue! X

I think if I was you I would make a list of everything you want and a list of 3/4 of each suppliers/venues that you might like and do a mass ring around just to enquire about what dates they are all free. Compare them then see which dates overlap. You never know you might get lucky Smiley smile then you can ring them back. Also nothing wrong with asking them to hold the date for 48hrs to get organised. The one thing I would definitely do is make sure (if you are having) the registrar is also free for the date and the time you have found from the ring around. Basically ask if places can hold dates for a bit and don't book anything until you're sure you have everything you want/need
Have you considered a midweek wedding? Might be a bit less busy throughout the week?

Anyway I hope this makes sense! Good luck Smiley smile

Also, might depend on tge day of the week. Saturdays, for example are always likely to be busier despite the Saturday price hike x

I'm in the same boat. We got engaged 31/05 and knew we wanted to get married summer 2023. We couldn't look at venues until early July as my OH was poorly.
We saw 4 venues, and only 1 had no availability for any summer Friday/Saturday until 2025. The others had varying availability and I have now managed to secure my dream venue for a Friday in August 2023. I've only sorted the venue so far, but have reached out to a few photographers who do still have availability.

I think it all depends on what you want, but there are options out there in my experience. I am going to be on a mission to book in my other suppliers now before everything does get booked up.
    Good luck with the planning!

Definitely get your venue first - you might find a venue with a package deal that includes catering etc which would mean you don't need as many suppliers as you think.

I'd definitely get on it ASAP though - we booked Summer 23 in January and our venue only had three weekend dates left (you might have more luck if you're willing to risk guests being available for a midweek date though). Good luck!

We’re getting married August 2023 and have been organising the wedding since January this year. I was surprised at how many suppliers were already fully booked for our date, especially because it’s not a weekend either! But that being said, we’ve still managed to get suppliers for everything we need and we’ve booked the majority of the big things! Definitely get a venue first, ours gave us a 2 week hold where we could research suppliers and check the registrar availability etc which was really good! Then from there just start looking for suppliers asap!☺️ x

We booked our venue this Sunday past for July 2023. Most of the August dates had been reserved but July was OK. It was the only venue that we saw and wanted to book.

We got engaged 15th July this year. We have venue and church preliminary booked for August 2023. Not seen them but it's the places we had discussed in passing so going to see them next week to confirm its what we want. All happened quickly. Was going to wait until New year for the other bits but with awareness of how busy they get booked it's on my to do list for this autumn.
