Help! Having second thoughts about my wedding dress!

Emily2012, 14 April, 2012 at 14:36 Posted on Planning 0 26

Hi all,

I'm new to wedding forums but I had a freak out moment this morning looking at myself in my wedding dress, and I could really do with your help.

As all you brides will be able to appreciate, I want to look the best version of me on my wedding day, and looking at a couple of pictures earlier I really started to doubt if I had made the right choice with my dress.

I bought the dress in a sample sale, and although I still think it's beautiful, I'm worried that under the pressure of making a relatively quick decision, I made the wrong one, and the dress doesn't suit my body shape.

So I really want to know whether I am worrying for no reason, and nerves are getting the better of me, or if actually my gut is telling me that the dress isn't right.

Your honest thoughts on whether the dress flatters my figure or not would be most appreciated!

xx

I think you look gorgeous in it. Gives you curves in all the right places and absolutely none in the wrong places and looks v classy. Plus lots of different ways to accessorise. What dont you like? Is there anything you could alter that would resolve your wobble? It seems on here that almost everyone has a wobble and then changes their mind back so I would really let yourself ride it out, knowing you will probably be happy with the dress again in a few days!

Wow, gives you a teeny tiny waist! Love the detailing ont he top - nto too spangly and the fact the top is straight across, very modest but the fit makes it look very lady like. Agree, nice and simple and classy - will look amazing when you're in it on the day.

Are you wearing a veil? I was haivng a wobble about mine but a veil makes it feel more 'done up' so why not try it on again with accessories etc so you can get the full effect? And try it on when you're happy, I tried mine on a fortnight ago when I was on a downer and was ready to go get another then tried it on last week, semi-tied it properly and I love it again :-)

Yay another Southampton bride! I think you're dress looks lovely. When you've got all your accessories on as well I'm sure you'll feel better. Can you go and try the dress on again? Looking at photos isn't quite the same.

I think you look stunning, I wish I had a tiny waist like that. Is there a bit about it your are wobbling about?

If you are having the wobbles, at least you can get yours on!

I agree with everyone else, the dress is stunning and your waist is teeny! It looks lovely on you!

Try it on again with some accessories and I bet you will remember why you fell in love in the first place!

I absolutely love this! Your figure looks amazing, I'd kill to look that good in mine!

As it's strapless, I'd definitely accessorise in some way, e.g. tiara, veil, necklace. My friend got marries last week and had a short strapless dress with no jewellery, no veil, no hair piece and although she looked beautiful, she looked somewhat plain an almost not bridal.

I think if you try it on with some bits and pieces you'll realise why you bought it :-)

    Hi MrsA2012 and Emily2012 - another Southampton-er here! I recognise that shop ?

I think it's totally natural to have wobbles (I certainly did and worried that my lace fishtail gown with train resembled a net curtain!). I think the dress suits you beautifully, you have a great figure and it shows it off. Love your dress too.

Have you tried on a fishtail hoop with your dress as it will kick out the bottom a bit and might make all the difference to how you feel about it?

As someone else (sorry can't see) said, accessories can make a big difference to how you feel about the overrall look. I'm based in Shirley and you are welcome to come round to try side tiaras, bands etc on if that would help.

    Lisa x

Thank you LilMissBusyBride, that's very sweet of you to say so! The main bit that was causing me to wobble was that I think my hips and thoighs look quite big. I can't decide if I'm an hourglass shape, in which case I think this style of dress is good, or a pear shape, in which case it's not! x

Thank you pinpin79! I didn't have it on when I was having my wobble, I was looking at photos, so I agree, it's probably best to actually try it on agian, and like you said, with my veil, and when I'm happy. Thank you x

Ah thanks for the offer Lisa, but although I'm getting married in Hampshire, and I did indeed get the dress from Brides of Southampton - well recognised - I actually live in London x
