How are you meant to keep up with this forum with all these spam messages?

I was just thinking that! I try to report them, but surely Hitched must be able to see them too, they’re plastered everywhere!

Reported them numerous times and I did get an answer from Hitched but whatever they tried is not working as it’s worse than ever. Such a shame as I like this site but it’s virtually unusable now!

It never used to be like this - it changed last year when Hitched was sold to an American based company. I think the site is worldwide now because of it - which is where all the spam is coming from if you look at their bio's . The site does not seem to be moderated or even looed at by Hitched staff. Thinking of putting my name forward as a moderator.

They are even posted in the section labelled "Feedback to Hitched" for heavens sake !

They used to approve each post before it appeared, which kept the spam down but was super annoying because posts were approved in random order so topics often didn't make any sense.

Now posts appear immediately, but you can't find them because they're choked up with spam!

I don't know why they don't run it the way most other forums do - you are limited in what you can post (or have to wait for post approval) for the first 5-10 posts and/or for a set period of time and once you've reached that limit, you can post freely. It weeds out nearly all the spam, because people aren't going to hang around for a couple of weeks writing 'real' posts just so they can spam at the end.

I agree there is someone selling canabis on here i thought it was a wedding planning site i have reported it but nothing back

It’s so frustrating, and when I brought this up 6 months ago I was told to keep reporting stuff.
It just needs someone to be checking once a day and removing all the rubbish, surly it can’t be that hard for hitched!

80% spam, 15% relevant and 5% us all getting frustrated about the spam (including me). They definitely don’t moderate anything, as spam stays here for days or weeks. It’s not as if they provide this site out of the goodness of their hearts, it will be a financial venture which is quite understandable. But they don’t seem to realise that if they don’t sort this out they’ll lose half their visitors and then they’ll lose their advertising revenue / commissions etc.

Does anyone know of other comparable sites that ARE moderated? I’d definitely move to one that was.

They are in danger of losing me. I enjoyed this site until a few months ago. I have reported stuff, more than once and did receive a couple of replies but it is now worse than ever so I may delete my account. I don’t really need the site as I have sourced my own suppliers but it was interesting and nice to see others brides to be and engage in the forum chats but not if you cannot even find a real discussion.

Yep, I’m off too now. It’s just not a pleasure to come to this page any more and having to trawl through so much junk (including some which is quite offensive) so find the real posts.

I hope you all have lovely weddings, we all deserve it after the ‘challenges’!
