How do you like your potatoes?

Flowmojo, 2 November, 2012 at 12:28 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 43

Not as random as you think!! I have brother and SIL coming over for lunch on sunday and bro has just said 'We ARE having mash arnt we?!'. (Mr F hates mash hence him asking!)

I love mash, thick buttery, creamy mash but never have it at home as Mr F 'doesnt like his tatas messed with' so hel have boiled or roasted.

Mummy flow makes all three when we go to lunch, mashed, roast and boiled but i cant be arsed basically!

How do YOU have Yours?!

My god I LOVE potatoes in any form - mashed, boiled, roasted, chipped, dauphinoise, baked whatever. I also love the frozen ones like potato waffles. OMG my soup this lunchtime is looking less appetising, I just want spuds!

Usually chips as they're easiest to make, or just chopped into a curry.

I can never be faffed with making mash! I do like roast potatoes but we like to eat early so never seem to have enough time. With the chips I microwave them first so they're mostly cooked before they go in the oven, I wonder if that would work with roasties...

    Flow we are the same.

OH will not eat mash. Some Uni friends are coming this weekend and I'm genuinely excited because it means we will have mash. I never make it for just me.

Mash mash mash, all the way!

You can't have mash with a roast!

The rules are mash with sausages, roast with roasts.

Boiled potatoes are never to be eaten.

Mashed, with far too much butter and milk, seasoned liberally with black pepper and rosemary.

For those familiar with Red Dwarf, you know the scene where Lister faceplants a massive tray of mash? Yeah, I'd totally do that given the chance.

I wouldn't choose mash with a roast, although I love mash with pie, sausages etc. Cheesy mash even better.

Roasties are my spud of choice for a roast dinner. My dad makes the most amazing roasties, but only has them for Sunday lunch from end of September onwards. When new potatoes are in season, they have boiled for Sunday lunch. Mr Knees refuses to go round for Sunday lunch during the spring/summer as he can't have his roasties!

Also love sliced fried potatoes, or chopped up saute potatoes.

    Chips go without saying.

With a roast? it has to be roasties! Mash with sausages, or in our house mash with steak, my H is half american and apparently its a US thing?!

To be honest I love potato all ways, except boiled = boring!

Yup, another lover here. Except chips. We don't do chips/waffles etc. Sometimes (as in 2-3 times a year maybe) I'll grab some chips on a nightshift, but generally just love homemade roasties, mash and jacket spuds. Yummm.

We have roasties and mash. You can't have one without the other. Mash has to be seasoned to within an inch of it's life, buttery and with a nice sprinkling of extra mature cheese. Roasties are par boiled fluffled up then marinated in a bit of soy sauce bung in sizzling tray for 40 mins!

I love ALL potatoes but at the moment I have a thing for new pots par boiled crushed with garlic and then roasted *drools a la Homer*

Wouldnt have the above with a full blown roast though. For a roast has to be roast obviously clue is in the name.

I shall speak up for the much maligned Boiled Potato! I blummin love boiled spuds.

I also love roasties, chips, waffles & jacket spuds. I will tolerate mash in small doses, it's a boring substance (like pasta). When H does mash, he makes enough to feed the entire street.

We follow no rules, and generally have whatever H feels like cooking with whatever we're having.

Different potatoes for different teas innit.Although some teas require rice, pasta or cous cous dont forget.

Boiledys with fish, gammon, "light" things. Obvs potato salad.

Roasted new potatoes (skins left on)with garlic on for things like stuffed chicken breast wrapped in parma ham, or steak with blue cheese melted on. So quite posh teas.

Proper roasties with a roast, although we sometimes have mash AND roast.

Mash with sausage casserole, shepherds pie, chicken chasseur, gooey stuff.

Chips with lazy stuff, I dont like chips so I dont bother really. Except maccies chips. I know I'm a wrongun.

I also like potatoes in every single form, but if we were having a sunday roast I always do roast (my fav) and mash (H's fav).

I'd just do a bit of mash to keep um happy.
