How much are your groomsmen/ushers outfits costing?

Anonbride, 27 April, 2022 at 15:58 Posted on Wedding Attire 0 6

FH is debating adding two groomsmen... basically he's announced that the real reason he only wanted a best man initially was because he wanted to cut costs! I think it's such a shame if he actually really does want these two guys to be in the wedding not to include them so trying to do a sense check of how much a male wedding party member typically eats into the budget.

My FH has 4 groomsmen and he’s decided to hire their suits from somewhere like Moss Bros which works out about £75 for a 3 piece suit.

If they want to buy their suit then we’ve said we will still give them the £75 towards it and they would then have to pay the difference.
The main reason we’ve gone down the hiring route is because we’re having the men in dinner jackets and lots of people would never wear them again! Plus hiring is a good option for keeping costs down ☺️
The other thing is that all his other groomsmen set a precedent by having FH as one of their groomsmen but not paying towards the suit (not suggesting they should but made it easier for us to justify not forking out a few hundred pounds for each of their suits 🤣) xx

Ah bless him, that's so sweet! Suit prices varied a bit when we started looking. We bought suits from Skopes and they came in at around £180 each full price, but we managed to get an end of season group discount and took advantage of a discount by signing up to the mailing list before ordering. The big retailers like Moss Bros, Suit Direct and Slaters can do some good deals for groups and have a wide price range depending if you want a two or three piece etc. Have a look at https://www.slaters.co.uk/hirewear-more-information/hirewear-price-list they have a pretty decent transparent price list and images to look at that might help you make a decision. You might be looking between £70 - £250 depending on style, if you can get an end of season bargain/new customer discount and if you are hiring or buying. Good luck!

Ooh that’s really good to know about group discounts - I wouldn’t have thought to ask about that! Interesting about end of season too, we’re after linen summery suits so I wonder if it might be an idea for the guys to go shopping at the end of this summer for the best deals… thank you!

That’s a really good option to hire and then the guys would pay the difference if they want to buy, definitely gonna think about that! Thank you ☺️

Thanks everyone - FH is going to ask the groomsmen this week! We've rejigged our estimated budget based on hire rather than buy costs and he's feeling much happier about suit prices now Smiley laugh
