How much do you spend on a Wedding Band?

anna89, 1 June, 2012 at 21:25 Posted on Planning 0 18

As in the ring, not music! I was thinking in the £400 region, but a girl at work just spent £1800 on hers!

I guess it's like anything with weddings, some people spend more because they feel it's worth it, some can't justify the expense. My budget is about £200.

£1800? wow, that's 50% more than I charge for all day coverage and 4 days processing.

Edit, I'm a fool, I thought that was an actual band. I should really read the post properly!

My budget was £200 for both. We couldnt find anything we liked for this budget and we ended up spending £950 for both!

Our view was that it was one of the only things from a wedding that was to last forever so it was worth spending a little more than we budgeted.

The important thing is what it means, you like it and you can affored it.

Not worth getting into debt for IMO.

My budget was originally £200 each, but the one I like is £400 - not extortionate so may as well go for it!

My budget was £400 each but then we needed mine bespoke shaping. I think in the end OH got a slightly chunkier band too so we paid around a grand for both, maybe slightly over.

My engagement ring that my lovely prince chose all by himself for me and surprised me, was £1000, but it was platinum with a diamond.....but our wedding rings, were £700 in total for both. £250 for the one my OH chose and £450 for mine. Both prices include 2 years insurance (about £30 in total for the insurance on both) They are both white gold (1 step below platinum) and mine also has little diamonds. I wanted a platinum one as you are not supposed to mix the 2 metals, cause they rub against each other, but the platinum equivalent was £1000 on its own and we were not prepared to spend that. So we got the white gold ones, which I am soooo loving and I will put the ring on the other hand so the 2 rings dons destroy each other lol It is up to you how much you want to spend. They are important as you will have them for the rest of your lives but they are mainly symbolical, you dont need to go crazy on them! The vicar or registrar won't judge the rings! We got them at HSAMUELS, they have some pretty good prices! We found lots of lovely matching sets for £300! It wasnt the style we wanted though shame!

We have plain bands... Mr C has a court shape 9ct gold ring and I have a 3mm 18ct white gold ring to match my engagement ring.

We went into a local jewellers and they quoted £1,400 for both.... we went to a workshop in Hatton Garden (where Mr C had my engagement ring made) and got both for £400.

    Shop around!

Ours are £770 (instead of £1400), can't express how great Marlows are in Birmingham's jewellery quarter.

l was quoted £1200 for a made to measure ring to fit my marquise engagement ring. That was Ernest Jones...

Our wedding bands are very plain simple H.Samuel ones they were only £60 each.

We're buying each other different ones for Christmas. We both need plain ones for work. The one I'm getting at Christmas is handstamped and I think it's roughly £120 and my OH has found one that was £200 I think that's a but more elaborate than his plain one, we wanted to get married with our plain ones as it would make them feel more 'special'.

His £160, mine £1300. Mine would have been £800 but then realised that wouldn't have been what I wanted. Loooong saga re my ring, and still not completed.

I read this and thought your meant band = music. I thought some of you were quoting really cheap prices and now I understand why!!

I paid £200 for my 9ct shaped wedding ring from Smooch, OH just got a cheapo titanium one.

We paid £700 for the both of them.

Mines is a paladium band made to fit my engagement ring and was £300

His was £400 and is 18ct Yellow gold 5mm

Wedding rings direct were amazing for his ring, really good prices and customer service. Mine was made by the same local shop that made my engagement ring.

The cost doesnt matter, its what they mean to you. I went down the non diamond route so I could eventually get a bling eternity ring!

We went to Smooch, fair prices and good service.

I can't remember what the cost was, but somewhere between £400-£600 each.

Compared to high-street, we felt it was good value (better quality).

I suspect our rings would cost far more from the high-street - and we could never have afforded them. Its not as if the cost of the ring would make the marriage any more or less special to us.

My budget for rings was zero as we decided it was an expense we didn't have to have. I've now bought a ring 2nd hand on ebay for £20 as my friends/family were moaning that we had to have a wedding ring however I doubt i'll wear it again beyond the ceremony

I estimated £200 each, but F found the one he wanted for £90 and I ended up overspending on mine and getting one specially made which was about £700! More than I wanted to spend but I have an oval engagement ring and wanted a wedding band to fit perfectly.
