i don’t love my dress any more

Bella, 15 August, 2021 at 19:41 Posted on Planning 0 7
I don’t know what to do. I’ve had my dress for quite a while as was bought in a sample sale & had to be taken the same day. I loved it so much but today when trying on tinsel sure I can do it up before my first seamstress appointment next week, I was so underwhelmed & not sure it’s me at all.
I’m gutted. My mum who lives abroad was with me when I found it & kindly paid for it, so I’m worried about repercussions if I got another, not to mention I’m not sure I could afford a replacement 😭the wedding is in 8 weeks.

I’m not even really sure why I’m posting. More to get it off my chest I think.

Have you had a hair or makeup trial? I found when I tried it in for my alterations I was the same and thought “have I made the wrong decision”
But when I had my trial I went back and tried it in again and I was suddenly like wow!! It looks completely different with me all made up.

I think because it’s such a big decision that you will doubt yourself. If you really feel like it’s not the one. Then you’ll need to think of alterations and if they can be fitted in etc if you buy another dress.

Did you love the dress when you first bought it or did you have doubts then?

If you loved it at the time, it's probably just pre-wedding nerves. There is so much pressure on brides now to look 100% perfect and I think it sometimes makes us second-guess ourselves.

Must have been much easier in the days when you just put your best dress on and walked down to the church for a quick ceremony and then back to your parents home for a nice lunch!!!

Can you maybe have some embellishments added to wow it up a bit? I had a similar feeling but I think it was just because it is such a huge decision and I went back to the video my MOH took on the day I said yes and I can see the look on my face and how in love I was with the dress. Once you have your hair and make up done it will change how you feel on the day. Try not to stress, an sure it will look stunning and this is just a wobble as you are so close to the day X

I just wanted to thank you all for your advice. I had a fitting yesterday, put some makeup on & attempted to fix my hair & I felt so much better about my dress ❤️
I’m back to being excited about wearing it on the day 😊
