Invites

Kerry Lee, 1 March, 2022 at 18:44 Posted on Planning 0 9
Hi, I’ve designed my wedding invites without a space for the guests names (to save time writing them all out!)
However, how do I make it clear who is invited? ie I am inviting my cousins but not their adult children so need it to be clear that only my cousin and partner are invited. Do I just put it on the envelope? Or should I redesign with space on there and stop being a lazy arse?!

I would put the actual names on the invite as often pepper won't pay attention to the envelope and will save you time in the long run when they message to ask and will save akward questions

If you are using hitched for your RSVP it is good as when they search themselves it will only show named people if you set up partners as a companion.

Thank you, that’s a very good point. I didn’t realise they could rsvp via Hitched, can I ask - is it a simple link for them to click?

Yeah we sent the link to our website as we have put all of the info on there about the day and then said to go on the RSVP tab to reply

As long as you have added your guests in to the site and ceremony it is really easy

We're having a traditional RSPV card going with our invites (rather than doing this online) and are planning on filling out the "name" section on their behalf so it's super clear who's invited. The invite itself doesn't have names but the envelope and RSPV card will. We're also doing one RSPV card per person when we're inviting couples, in case one person can't come and the other can, and also because we're putting menu choices on here and it'll be clearer who's ordering what.

I wasn’t going to write the names out because I thought it would be a massive faff and take forever. In the end we decided it was more important to clearly state who was / wasn’t invited so I did a slight redeisgn and we wrote the names on each invite. It didn’t take that long and I’d definitely recommend it so you can avoid awkward conversations and unexpected guests!

    Morning!

I'm the Community Manager here at Hitched so please do feel free to reach out with any advice you need!

If you haven't put names on the invites and don't feel like changing your designs then I would agree with the others to set up a wedding website specifically with your guest list so they can respond (you can also ask for menu choices etc.)

If you have the time, I would also add the wedding website URL onto the invite.

Alternatively, you can look into adding a trio invitation where one of the pieces of stationery specifically mentions the guest name

    I hope that helps!

I did the same thing, put names on the envelope and they had space to put their names on rsvp so I know exactly who is coming. I also made it clear on my website absolutely no children
