Inviting teachers - during term time

Me and my SO are planning our wedding, we’ve found our dream venue and have a date that has somewhat of a significance to us. The only problem, it’s the Thursday before the end of the school term. We have three teacher friends we’d like to invite, one of them I’d like to be my best man. How do I...

How do I approach the topic? Is it unfair of me to pick this date?

I completely agree it's about knowing your most crucial members and the majority of your guest list's circumstances. My responses are coming from the perspective of people who work a more typical 9-5, and that's why in my first comment I mentioned the example of a mid-week wedding that was very thin on the ground because this was the circumstance of most of the guests. It's all about priorities and how much you'd care if a good chunk of guests couldn't make an date you know would be inconvenient I guess!

I think it's completely up to you and you are more than ok to have your wedding on a Thursday but just be mindful that the teachers you invite possibly won't be able to come and it might be out of their hands. Sometimes schools make it hard for you to feel like you can ask! Completely depends on the school and how lenient they are. Unless it was a family member some schools would say no. Others will be fine! Ask the teachers you want to invite x

The venue I chose was charging more than double for a weekend wedding. And all school holiday dates were booked for nearly 2 years. I wanted to make sure my elderly relatives could see me marry so chose to do it sooner midweek during term time. Unfortunately my best freind who I wanted to be my maid of honour can't attend as she works in a school. Personally, I think if she asked she might get it but gives me the impression she can't even ask. It's a shame, I couldn't get her wedding date off but told my boss I was going regardless (he had 6 months notice!) I gave her 18 months notice and she still won't even try to get it off. Honestly made me question our friendship of over 13 years.
