Is my engagement ring too big?

Is my engagement ring too big? 2

I am going round and round in circles about getting my engagement ring resized. Today it is cool and it feels too loose. I actually tried to prove to myself it wouldn’t come off on it’s own and managed to shake it off after some vigorous shaking! On the hot days last week it felt uncomfortably tight. I really don’t know what to do for the best. Down half a size maybe for security? It is an M1/2. I have another ring which is a K which I can get on my ring finger but we have some serious arguments to get it off and my finger tends to swell afterwards. What do you think? I really don’t want it to end up being too small 😔

I have got a thing that wraps around my ring called adjustable ring sizer and I wrap it on the inside so nobody can see it, try that if you unsure about getting it resized

Thanks for your reply. I’ve heard of these but also heard that using them all the time can damage your ring?

I have had one on a year and no issue, I got a pack of them off amazon, they are soft spiral rubbery material and different sizes. They only a couple of quid. Check it out see what you think
I know when my wedding ring goes on it will hold the engagement ring in place ( I practiced ha ha)

I would go to the jewellers and have it resized, if it’s like this in the summer it’ll be huge in the winter. There’s a big difference between m 1/2 and k, I’d try sizes on at the jewellers and get their recommendations.

I would go to a jeweller and ask them to measure your ring finger and ask their advice on sizing. Personally I think its a little big. Mine is an N and fits snugly. In the summer I can still wiggle it off and in the colder months it fits perfect.

My jewellers advised that the engagement ring should be tighter and smaller than the wedding ring, this is because your wedding ring will sit below your engagement ring, so will be around the widest part of your finger. The engagement ring should be smaller to essentially help keep both rings in place.

I second the rimg adjuster, I have used on my engagement ring for over a year, replaced a couple of times as they get stained and now on my wedding ring. I have ME so my fingers change size all the time and I prefer this to actually resizing as if they swell I can just pull it off and still get the ring off where as if it was smaller it would have to be cut.

I got this one and has 4 sizes and just cut a bit off as and when I need to replace it

Thank you for the reply. I went to see a jeweller today who recommended going down a size however they wouldn’t do it due to concerns about my morganite centre stone in response to heat. My fiancé is going to call the place it got it from but I am feeling uneasy about it especially as some days/times of day it fits very well (my fingers seem to swell up and go down loads). I’m considering buying a very simple smaller ring to wear on top to remove the anxiety of it potentially falling off, and once we are married a wedding ring will probably make it fit more snugly. Does that sound like a reasonable idea?

If that makes you feel more comfortable then do it but I can honestly say I have no issue with the adjuster, it is on all the time and I dont feel it (takes a few days to get used to it but you will get used to it) it will likely be better once wedding ring is in so mybe give it a go, is a few quid and then at least you can wear the beautiful ring he gave you x

So I finally made the decision that it does need resizing. I bought another cheapish ring in L1/2 and annoyingly it is the perfect size and way more comfy than my engagement ring so I’m finally admitting defeat.

Took it to a local jeweller and they said they won’t do it because the morganite stone might go full under the heat.
The place my fiancé got it from will no longer do it for free as it has been too long and it would require sending it in the post (they also won’t quote on price until received and basically not comfortable posting my ring off to somewhere to then be posted back to possibly not even be resized).
I have found more of a manufacturing place that said they might be willing to take it on but wondering if anyone has any experience or words of wisdom? Has anyone had a morganite ring resized without issue?!

The answer to this question depends on a few factors, including height and weight. If you are underweight or do not regularly engage in physical activity, your engagement ring may be too big. Conversely, your ring might be too small if you have excess pounds or are out of shape. It is important to get fitted for an engagement ring by a skilled jeweler who can consider all relevant variables (including size) to recommend the best fit.

In addition to being SIZE comfortable and proportionate, an oversized ring also sends the wrong message about wealth and marital status.
